Multiple Consoles

Post by durias »

I have a Wii and a PS2 to connect to my TV. What multiple console connector do you recommend?

Well it depends on what inputs your TV has and what type of connections you're using for the consoles. A likely candidate would be one of those 4-way switch boxes from radio shaft that has an s-video connector and three RCA plugs for each input (so you can do composite+audio, s-video+audio, or component).

I have one of those and my TV has four sets of inputs. I have an Atari+MSX+NES+SMS+TG16+Genesis+SNES+Saturn+PC+CATVbox connected. (sometimes I have to resort to manually swapping cables.)

Get 'component' cables for both consoles and get a component switch box.

I have an automatic scart switch, but the image is often distorted (especially when there's a lot of white on the screen) and 60 Hz looks like crap.

Is the Joytech one really good/perfect?

It is really perfect.

I have a very high quality 15Khz monitor that definitely would show any imperfection and I can't honestly tell the difference between the picture given by the console plugged straight to the monitor and the console routed through the AV Centre.

Can't think of anything better, I JUST wished that the thing was able to route the audio signal input coming from SCART cables to the audio RCA outputs instead of just the SCART output.
It basically means that if you don't have a SCART that has separate audio jacks, you won't be able to re-route the sound input and you wil have to use the speaker sof the TV to which the SCART output coming out of the AV Centre is plugged.

ah yes, that's stupid, but it's easy to fix...
Thanks for the info.

That Joytech AV Center looks really interesting. Is that usable in the US? I'd really like to have something similar to that.

EDIT: Nevermind. I can actually order one from Walmart.com here in the US. Never even heard of this product. I really have been living under a rock the past 10 years.
