Getting already excited Rob?
Haha, and seems like you want to take on namakoteam this time. Well, if this thread won't lead to a more cautious Icarus, who is already starting to form his evil plans in his hideout.
Anyway, I think it is a good thing if some already start to form their teams as it will make organization easier when the thing starts. As for everyone who didn't join last year but would like to do this time, don't worry everyone can take place and people who don't have teams yet will be put together to teams when the thing starts. There will be a registration phase, where everyone will be sorted into which team he'd like to go and fits, so everybody who likes to get the chance to join.
Though, Rob, I wouldn't count on the tournament starting next month. But the registration thread will probably pop up next month. Have to catch DJI and finalize things with him. I am also looking forward to it.

I don't even know if namakoteam will be returning in its entirety this year, as everyone is quite busy now. -_-;;Edge wrote:Haha, and seems like you want to take on namakoteam this time. If the rest of the guys are unable to participate this year, I might be up as a free agent or solo player. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the offer Rob, but I'll stick with captaining (co-captaining?) Team Old Schoolers. We did rather well last time, and with a bit more focus, I think we could do better. Of course, who knows how many members will return, but with any luck, most of us will join together for the common shmupping good again.
Plus, you and I butt heads too often. We'd be too busy arguing to actually play anything

I'd love to join Old Schoolers once again, but I'm still MAME-handicapped. Last time it was embarassing to play only a week out of six. I should really quit with this bad habit of mine to buy the damn ports, and switch to emulation altogether. Seems that no serious tournament is going to consider any other option.Herr Schatten wrote:I'd feel most honoured to be part of your fleet again, Captain. The Coop wrote:Thanks for the offer Rob, but I'll stick with captaining (co-captaining?) I guess Rob would make a decent replacement for me.

Is there a Turbo Team clubhouse? If so, I offer both a George Foreman grill and a wiffle ball bat wrapped in duct tape.
On a side note, Drink and Fly should have atleast a 4 drink minimum this year.

I had some sort of intoxicant in me for most of the tournament. I skipped them for Star Force though. It would have been a shame to waste good booze and brownies on a such a shitty game.sven666 wrote:did you guys actually drink anything? cause i remember i was steamin when i did my batrider run for the tourneyAcid King wrote: On a side note, Drink and Fly should have atleast a 4 drink minimum this year.(proboably why it was so shite)

I have nothing against it; but will my 1.07 GHz, PowerPC G4 iBook with 256 mb of RAM offer a reasonable rawpower to run these games at full speed and without problems? Besides, I don't have a single usb joystick/pad yet... Yes, I know, I'm terribly lazy and cheap.Rob wrote:Or buy the ports you want, emulate games for the tournament if you don't have them! Bookmarked, thanks! Indeed, I might order Konami Arcade DS from them next monthRob wrote:Next time you order something from Play-Asia (assuming you do, who doesn't?) throw something like this in the cart. Err... never mindcigs wrote:Do you have that one Rob? I have the "joybox 3-in-one" thing- it adds a bunch of input lag and makes me hate MAME.

I have a newer one with multiple slots, but don't use it as it lags on my machine too. The older ones are better, a friend has an Super Box 3 (1 slot) and it works a lot better. But I think those adapters with multiple slots are ok on USB 2.0, which my machine doesn't have.cigsthecat wrote:Do you have that one Rob? EDIT:
@Turrican: I think you should be ok with you machine, but better make sure to order a pad or adapter which is designed for USB 1.0

Probably. My old Pentium III 667 MHz with 128 MB RAM was able to handle Cave games at full speed, although I had to disable sound to get Raizing games to run smoothly.Turrican wrote:will my 1.07 GHz, PowerPC G4 iBook with 256 mb of RAM offer a reasonable rawpower to run these games at full speed and without problems?
When are the non-early recruitment threads supposed to pop up? I was hoping to join Team Loser this year.
Oh, and input lag varies greatly among different USB converters. I have two: one is great, the other is basically useless. I'll see if I can find any links for my good one.
EDIT: I found it, but apparently Play-Asia no longer carries it: link

I have the linked one, yeah. Just for PS1/2. The controls seemed really stiff at first (harder than usual to hit diagonals), but haven't noticed any problems since the first hour or so. Used it for 4 of the 6 tournament weeks. It's also nice having all of the PS buttons to manage nearly every needed command (opening menus, credits, fullthrottle, etc.).cigsthecat wrote:Do you have that one Rob? I'm not sure how reliable I am as a team member. Especially come the nicer temperature months when I don't want to spend time inside. I don't want to bring a high scoring team down.

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
