Either you guys never played Final or you gave up on Last Hope after the 10th try or something...

I repeat:
i´d have Last Hope over R-Type Final ANY day!Razz*
LOL... no I think you haven't played or beat final and you're REALLY trying to justify the money you spent on last hope. It's ok, really... I payed for both of em also.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

No I admit I have not beaten the game, but I bet you 50 bucks that you haven´t beaten Last Hope either. ;)
I´ve played enough R-Type Final to know I really don´t like it (though I kinda like the intro, I´ll give it that).

Finally got to play my copy today, thanks to a friend bringing their DC round, and it works fine on their machine. :?

After an afternoons play, we've both come to the conclusion that my DC has some kind of built in "quality control" mechanism, I don't find it fun at all.

I do like the music though, at least the OST won't go to waste.

Finally finished the game. Naturally, because it's so mean spirited, it told me to try normal mode, and unceremoniously dumped me back at level 1 on "easy" difficulty :P

That final boss is a doozy though, I ended up dying right when I killed it. Anyone know a good way to take that bum down?

In the latest GamesTM in the uk Triangle service say they intend to release XIXIEL (Spelling) for the dc in 2008 to celebrate 10 years of the dreamcast.

And there will be a rather tasty independant Shooter much sooner.. It will be announced soon ;)

The crappy side is easily found...

Because some of us find the game to be enjoyable, and have no problems seeing (and blocking) the bullets. I know some folks have complained about the controls on the DC pad, but myself and others have had no issues with it. I agree that there are a couple spots of questionable hit detection (namely that area I mentioned earlier on Stage 4), but overall, the game's pros outweigh the cons. So while people like myself are in the extreme minority regarding LH, we do exist. We're just a rare species... kind of like those who don't see what all the excitement's about with DoDonPachi, (like myself... again ;)).

Yeah, I've had no problems distinguishing what's killed me, and bullets from debris, and so forth. And I've had a lot of fun with it...but then, I'm a fan of the old school memorization shooters than the manic crap that gets shoveled out these days.

It doesn't hurt that the game is gorgeous, either :P

I've been trying to figure that out. I'm thinking there's something in the vine-like clutter that's being hidden, like maybe an enemy, a shot from an enemy, or just an object. I've done it before, but I'm not entirely sure what was different between the attempts that failed, and the ones that didn't.

Well, to be honest there are A LOT lot more copies of Radiant Silvergun around in this world then (NEW and SEALED) copies of the Last Hope LE...
In a few years time there´d be only a few sealed copies of this unique (official licensed or not) item left. The fact that this IS a nice game (despite what a lot of people repeat after each other) helps the price too.
And before anyone starts moaning, I am NOT comparing this game to Radiant Silvergun other than printed numbers.
Plus the attraction (for whatever reason...) may lie in the low marked no. of the copy here. :?
