Touhou 10 - Fuujinroku (Mountain of Faith)

Despite the completely retarded and cheesy name, the new Touhou is approaching fast. New screens have appeared for ZUN's latest work, and the new feature seems to be the addition of options a-la Gradius and Mushi. From screens and random chatter on various forums, it appears that the main players are Reimu and Marisa again.

From what I hear, demos will be handed out at the Hakurei Shrine Reitaisai on May 20th, and ZUN might be looking for beta testers.

I'm looking forward to it already.

Just give me a heads up when the OST hits the shelves, I'm all over Zun's music like Rob playing Battle Garegga.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

The backgrounds look nice, with a certain nature-theme. Maybe it IS some sort of Mushi-Hommage.

Almost all of ZUN's stuff has a demo out there, head over to Shoot the Core or some such place and DL 'em! Also either check out the "Maidens of the Kaleidoscope" forums linked earlier or the Touhou Wiki for tips and such.

It looks like it would be my first game purchase in 2007. :o

I thought my 1st new game in 2007 would be the PS2 Kaikai Kiki, but it turns out that it won't be out til 3Q this year... :(

Yes, I am playing it, and yes, it is pretty good.
From a quick look, I don't see it initiating a wave of converts, but anyone who's enjoyed other entries in the series is fairly likely to want it unless they have a deep-seated objection to chaining. The Gradius V type 1 option config might end up selling it to me, despite being a little pointless when there's no scenery to wrap it round.

I like it. I hope there will be more characters than just Reimu and Marisa though...although 3 weapon types each is fine too. The new boss characters are cool too. I hope we see some familiar faces from the PC-98 games or something in the full game.

I thought the same when I first saw it.

Then I saw through it and realized it wasn't that bad.

Not that that is stopping me from fucking up on it.

But, yes, Mountain of Faith is made of awesome. Marisa A and C are my favourites, followed by Reimu B. Marisa C is alright, Reimu A was pretty meh, and Reimu C I really, really, really don't like.

And Nitori is awesome. She's cute, and I mean, her character title is Super Youkai Warhead.

Demo 1CC'd with the majority of the characters, not with all, and I doubt I can be arsed to do it.

There is a possibility that this is going to be my new favourite Touhou game, but I'm not saying anything until the full version is out. August can't come fast enough!
