Arcade Shock sells 1st print run of Muchi Muchi Pork PCB kit

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

The above title says it all... ^_~

http://www.arcadeshock.com/items/cave-c ... detail.htm

The asking price is $1,770 USD...one of these placed in a USA arcade will definitely earn that $$$ back in no time flat! Especially one with lots of "foot traffic" (i.e. -- casino arcade, etc.).

Should one bite the bullet and pay through the nose for such a 1st print run PCB kit (with extra Cave promotional goodies included such as the Muchi Muchi Pork AOU '07 music CD)? ^_~

the official muchimuchi pork thread was too far down on the 1st page?

anyways, put this game on operating and you wont make a dime (tho its a nice gesture to any fellow shmuppers in your area :) )

buy it if you want it, im sure its a great game but the price will pummel over the coming 6 months, i for one can wait...

Is there a way this game can make a dime in the US or is that just a crazy fantasy?? What if you put up posters and stuff?? I think if it were prominently displayed in Pinball Pete's it would make SOMETHING.

For doctorx0079,

Yes, this game can make some $$$, it would have to placed in an arcade enviroment where there is a lot of casual foot traffic say like a big casino in Las Vegas, Reno, or Lake Tahoe for example...charge the intial first game at 50 cents and 50 cents (or a quarter) to continue seems the way to go to at least earn back some of the intial monies to purchase such a 1st run PCB kit.

A bold sign placed on top of the arcade cabinet promoting "New Game!" would definitely let the arcade gamers know that they are playing a brand new shmup game, in this case, would be Muchi Muchi Pork! ^_~

Yes, arcade promotional posters do make such an arcade a cool place to be seen at...a more traditional arcade without the prize redemption type of games would be better (like how it was back in the 1980's into the early 1990's) and a healthy mixture of the latest Stern pinball games helps as well. An ideal arcade enviroment with lots of cool neon and black lighting effects gives off the "Wow" factor -- I've been to an arcade with that type of amibient lighting setup. ^_~

I always wonder if a lone solid arcade could survive anywhere in the US. I mean, they are all but non-existent. It's not like these Jap games cost all that much to import, obviously a lot of people here do it for their personal collection. If you could find the demand, the supply sure needs to be filled.

Such an independent arcade in the USA could survive if they have the latest and greatest games -- keeps the arcade gamers coming in to see what's new. If there ain't anything new, then it must not be worth their time to patronize the arcade, right? ^_~

An arcade has two different types of customers, your regular hard-core group and the semi-occasional group -- to whom do you cater to?

Obviously, a mixture of some arcade game classics & pinball classics for the old timers pining for arcade nostalgic reasons wouldn't be too shabby either mixed in the latest and greatest arcade games... ^_~

sadly, the problem is, trying to create an environment and culture for hardcore players to enjoy their passtime without thugs and other idiots hanging around causing trouble.

I always with there was a "geisen" kind of place in SF , there are a lot of fighting game players and a good few STG players here, in fact i'm surprised there isn't anything like it in japan town..

ah well, I can always dream.

Yeah, you'd think a that Japanese styled arcade (with Japanese arcade cabinets, of course) would be hoppin' & bustlin' in San Franciso's Japantown Center -- but that sadly isn't the case..... ^_~

A soundtrack? Who are they trying to sell to, arcade operators or enthusaists?

Kit looks extremely cool (and that's coming from somebody who's usually just a fan of the older space-based affairs). ;)

This was already posted, and discussed in detail, over a week ago in the official MMP thread:

Sorry to be the voice of doom, but there's a very, very good reason there are no arcades left in the US: B/c they don't make any money. An arcade w/ the latest and greatest games is going to have a lot of good games, and almost nobody playing them.

Theoretically, if an arcade in the US did buy this and put it in a machine, wouldn't be illegal to use it for profit since it would be outside of Japan?

Sorry if that is a stupid question.

Yes, just like every DDR machine that isn't SuperNova or USA.

We've got four here counting the two that are at movie theaters. Two suck with a bunch of broken machines. The movie theater ones have a bunch of gun games and racing games. They're all right I guess. Pinball Pete's is up in Ann Arbor. They're pretty cool but they don't care much for shmups. Pete's is the only place I've seen Tekken 5 DR around here.

Best arcade in america(possibly the world) located just a little ways from the Weirs in New Hampshere.

I've been to this place many times, it truly is a great experience. This place is a big money maker from winter to summer. One day I went their on a rainy day in the parking lot(lots) would make an old school arcade enthuiest cry. Their is hope. :D
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

Oh, well we've got three theatre arcades that I didn't count, so six all together. No shmups though, the closest one that I know of is Raiden Fighters Jet about an hour and a half away in New Albany. Also, Bob Walther's had Tekken 4, upgraded to Tekken 5, and then sold the Tekken 5 and went back down to 4. WTF?

I know, I know, everyone in New England raves about Funspot, but the rest of the world probably can't go all the way to New Hampshire just for an arcade.

Well maybe one of these days I will just drive up there anyway.
