I think you only fight her on certain "paths," not all of them. There are a couple of bosses unique to certain paths in the game, IIRC.LoneSage wrote:Something I'm lost on is the Guardian Angel Geluve. I saw her in the instruction manual, but I don't recall fighting her. Was she the Edo system, or what?

Nothing, I was just thinking how cool it'd be to see the pre-Armageddon Bug and Pablo, maybe a few others like Samson. Instead it's just depressing because now Shyna's all alone...I'd go as far enough to say the game's a tragedy.Valgar wrote:What? Gunstar Heroes -- Green's dead
Guardian Heroes -- Everyone's either dead or succumbed to the gods
Radiant Silvergun -- Traveled way back in time, I think everyone's dead
Then again that's just a few..but still! Elements of tragedy are always cool to see in games.

When I beat Guardian Heroes I defeated both armies of gods and the great creator. Thusly doing the goodly Japanese deed of destroying western theology.
I read that the Story in AGH is a big what-if story.

Rather than make a *cough* duplicate *cough* thread I figured this is the most suitable place to start.
I just want to say it took me a while to understand how this game works. Namely since I didn't do any research before hand on how it operates (I have the Saturn version) since I can't read Japanese very well. I just picked it up and played, which caused my confusion. Now about a year after I got it I decided to give it another go and it's been a little better.
One thing that hasn't changed is fighting groups of enemies, which can be frustrating since you'd want to cash/bash yet at the same time you're surrounded. Takes getting used to I suppose. That and it's better if I have more than default weapon, shit.
In a way, it reminds me of Dynamite Headdy, although a bit more flexible and perhaps in a way more fun too. I have nothing against DH but I could never get into it, much like SM.
EDIT: Anyone know exactly what dictates saving for the Saturn version?

I can't believe it's been almost 2 years, that doesn't seem right at all...I thought it was last summer that I played through it.
Oddly enough I was thinking of SM just 2 days ago.
What a fantastic game.
Speaking of Dynamite Headdy, I never beat that one. I'd always get to the boss that switches planes (not the flying kind) and then die; yay, no continue system, brilliant move Treasure.
Loved every other second of it, however.

I can only hope this is some ancient thread some dug up...
At any rate, it makes me sad. Graphically, the Saturn version stomps on the PS1 version. PS1 version added a boss (or 2?), some cut scenes, and an extra ending. The US PS1 version is laughably bad with its weapon prices and the way you have to recharge the meter though. 'Twasn't fun at all. And upon playing the Satty version my sophomore year roomate fell in love with a game that he had hated for years (as he had bought the US PS1 version since he was always curious about Treasure games).

Yeah I really would like to know how to save progress. I did it once (a year ago) but now I can't seem to get anything saved. No, memory is fine.
Does it perhaps coincide with dying, then you're given the option to continue later on?
EDIT: I just confirmed that to be true, that dying without in-game continuing saves progress, which sucks if it's the only method. At least it puts you back at the beginning of level with the original status.
Also, I got Lv.6 Surose but during the battle with Moses (w/o dying) I lost it, how does that work exactly?

If you run out of energy the game takes away whatever weapon you were using and refills your energy. Good idea to switch to a crappy weapon and lose the rest of your energy on purpose if you're getting really low.Limbrooke wrote:Also, I got Lv.6 Surose but during the battle with Moses (w/o dying) I lost it, how does that work exactly?
Good to know, at least that makes sense in this case. But you mean actual life-energy, not spirit-energy, right?MrMonkeyMan wrote:If you run out of energy the game takes away whatever weapon you were using and refills your energy. I suppose this energy swap only works with anything beyond Lv.1 Surose?

Oh, man, this game is one of my favorites (can't believe I never posted in this topic; I guess this was during the time I stopped viewing this forum). Definitely keep playing; the game gets ridiculously easy once you get the hang of all the fun boss patterns.
BTW, there's a trick to getting enough money early in the game so that you don't need anymore money afterwards. Towards the beginning, when you're near the secret lv. 6 Sloth shop, you can just continue beating on the 2 enemies in the platforms right before the downward slope. Just beat all the money out of the first, drop down and do the same to the second, jump back up to get both enemies to repop, and repeat.
This method is extremely safe since you only tackle 1 enemy at a time, and even if you get hit and don't get health (which the SS version is sparingly short of), the secret shop is just to the up-right for you to heal up. 10 minutes of bashing gets you set for the entire game along with a lv. 6 Sloth (the main weapon you'll be using anyway).
The irony of all things is that this will take longer on the SS version than the supposedly "much more difficult" US PS version, where you get enough health drops to keep at full life without any problems and the lv. 6 Sloth is actually less expensive.

Out of all the Treasure games, SM has the most character (never played Guardian Heroes, so dunno if that had more character development or what).
After beating the game I felt kinda sad that I'd never see some of those guys again.
The bosses were brilliant and just so damned creative, so full of life.
Not counting Astro Boy because of Hitmaker, SM might be my favorite Treasure game.

Re: Silhouette Mirage
Does any one know of a guide to playing the Japanese version of this game? A break down of the shop would be very helpful.

Re: Silhouette Mirage
I would look up a faq of the PS1 game for reference; they should go over the shop and there's probably some site out there that has pictures of the monsters for easy reference.
I enjoyed the PS1 game but didn't feel like beating the game 5 times in a row just to unlock Hard Mode and cheat codes (thanks Working Designs).
