Reccomendations?
Hi, this is my first post.
What do you reccomend in terms of Shooters for NES, SNES, GCN and Sat?
Games I've already got:
NES: Gradius, Air Fortress
SNES: Gradius III, Axelay, Super R-Type, R-Type III, Parodius DA!
GCN: Ikaruga, Radirgy
Saturn: Sexy Parodius, Chatting Parodius, Darius Gaiden, Donpachi, Radiant Silvergun, Layer Section, Layer Section II
I intend to expand my collection to other systems, but not untill I've found all the great games for these systems.
Thanks.

You need to get some Tecnosoft in there. Hyper Duel, Blast Wind, and the three Thunder Force(TFV, TFGP1, TFGP2) games are must haves for the Saturn. If you like Gradius, Salamander and Gradius Deluxe Packs are also awesome. The only other Gamecube shooter I know of is Chaos Field, and there are very mixed opinions on it. I personally didn't enjoy it much, but I have heard that there are people out there who love it, so give it a shot. The NES had quite a few shmups, I recommend Life Force and 1943. Thats all I have for now. I'm sure other members will post a ton of suggestions as well.

I'm pretty new, too, and here's my plan.
1. Wii - There are eight shmups available on the virtual console that I'm starting off with. Some notable ones are Gradius, Gradius III, R-Type III...
2. Also, if you can get your hands on Ikaruga, that'll play on the Wii. I hear Radio Allergy and Tumiki Fighters are coming out for the GameCube/Wii, too.
3. Playstation 2 - There are a bunch of shmups available here and they're steps above the ones found in the Wii Virtual Console. Raiden III, Gradius V, Castle Shikigami...
4. Playstation 2, Japan - ESPGaluda, Dodonpachi Daioujou, Ibara and on!!!
I'm easing my way into the harder stuff and having a ton of fun doing so!

A few suggestions for some of the systems:
NES: Life Force is an absolute must
SNES: Gokujyou Parodius, Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius, and the inferior to the arcade port Raiden
GCN: I don't own one
Saturn: Gokujyou Parodius Da! Deluxe Pack, Twinbee Deluxe Pack, Metal Black, Gekiridian (check the main site's Xenocide files for a bit more)

Thanks for the suggestions! I can play Import games on all those systems except the NES, did Life Force/Salamander ever get a PAL release?
I do play to get the TF games at some point, but they're quite expensive on Ebay. Castle of Shikigami 2 and Chaos Feild are two GCN shmups I've been considering, but it's a little hard to track them down.
I'm hoping Karous and Trigger Heart Exelica get a GCN/Wii port at some point, but I don't like the chances... Tumiki Fighters for the Wii sounds stellar, I hope it's expanded, and not just a straight port though.

Yeah, but it ran at 50 Hz, IIRC.-Slayer- wrote:Thanks for the suggestions! I can play Import games on all those systems except the NES, did Life Force/Salamander ever get a PAL release?

Try to get the Saturn version of "Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus". It has both Salamander 1 & 2; but also Life Force Salamander with a 'no wait' option, i.e. no slowdown...
EDIT:
It should be noted that there are differences between NES Life Force and Arcade Life Force:
