I recently replayed Kamui, and I didn't find a level I hazily remember from 2000 or 2001: a battle in space (with a background resembling the whole planet picture that appears at the beginning of new games) against a giant starship or space station, larger than the screen, which rotated and moved around the screen to attack and be attacked from various oblique angles.
I remember this level at or near the end of the game, but the latest versions of Kamui I've seen (1.04 to 1.08 ) definitely end with a completely unrelated area 6.
Was this level removed? Am I attributing to Kamui, which greatly impressed me, some equally impressive moment from another Japanese PC shmup? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Stage 1 in Kamui has you flying over a battalion of battlecruisers before you descend through the planet's atmosphere to fight the first stage boss.Ixmucane wrote:I recently replayed Kamui, and I didn't find a level I hazily remember from 2000 or 2001: a battle in space (with a background resembling the whole planet picture that appears at the beginning of new games) against a giant starship or space station, larger than the screen, which rotated and moved around the screen to attack and be attacked from various oblique angles.

I have a feeling you might be thinking of one of the stages from the later demo of RefleX (stage 3, I believe). Both games are by the same circle though, Siter Skain.
