What brand is it? I'm looking to pick it up from a friend of a friend, but I don't know what kind it is. Any ideas?

No these are not good cabinets. They are Korean/Chinese made, with very cheap parts. No where near as good as Japanese cabs (Sega/Konami/Namco/...).

As for parts, though, you can switch out the sticks, buttons, and monitor right? We're looking for a 'base' from which to start from.

You don't want it, no idea where you're at but try looking for some nice Japanese cabs or the glorious JK's of Scandinavia :D

I'm in NY.

Any other cab will cost me $1000 more (cost + shipping).

Are other cabs really 1000$ better? When you say 'i do not want it', are there solid reasons? This article on killercabs seems to think highly wnough of it:

The design/outer casing is ridiculous end very ugly. slap on some unnecesary bright colors and a cab is created few would want to have in their house. If someone gave this to me, I would accept, take out the monitor and power supply and speakers and late at night I would ditch the sucker somewhere.

I actually have one of those cabs. The first thing I did was replace the buttons and sticks with Sanwas. The (tri sync) monitor quality is actually very good and gives an excellent sharp picture. The cab certainly isn't up there with the Japanese cabs, but as an alternative it's not nearly as bad as some have said and I have enjoyed many many hours of gaming on it.
Some old pics -

I'm sure it can, probably not easily though. Our very own Bloodflowers made a beautiful Big Century cab conversion a while ago -

which only goes to show that if you know how to, you can do anything with the cab if you so wish.
Again. I like the cab, however Japanese candy cabs are of a higher build quality, although I really cannot fault the quality of the Big Century monitor. Beautiful picture.

I have one too - screen isn't bad at all, default sticks that come with it are a bit horrible (actually Sanwa too, just crap ones). The purists will tell you to get some second hand JP cab, but you can get those Korean ones brand new, for less, and in a home environment they will do the job. There's no screen rotate however - you have to unbolt it and move it yourself.

Where can you get them for less? The only Big Centuries I've seen are the 29" ones at £1250 plus VAT
I'd like a 20-25" Rock Cab or Big Century but I can't find anyone who sells them in the UK :?

How big of a deal is this to do?

Mine cost 800 flat from the people who have been importing them. Maybe they jacked the prices?

Wow, that Big Century control panel looks really cramped. Just comparing it to the standard japanese panel layout, this may not be very comfortable for 2 player fighter games.

True, it looks like there's *image math!* 4.2-4.5 inches less space between them.

Hm. I wonder how bad it would be to mill a new top. I'll have my players try this one out, and if it is no good, to Home Depot we go. :)
