HD remake of a classic

Post by Necronom »

There has been quite some talk about Capcom's upcoming HD remake of classic Street Fighter 2 recently which made me think whether such an artdepartment update would be also possible for an oldschool shmup.

Of course R-Type was the first that came to my mind with its biomechanical creatures and ship designs. Would love to see the bosses redesigned by a mangaka like Tsutomu Nihei (Blame!) or even the master of biomech style himself, H.R. Giger. What do you guys think, would fans of the original R-Type appreciate such a "rebirth" of a classic with untouched gameplay but redesigned art?

Fighters have a bit more charm than shooters in this respect.

I'd rather see new games in new hi res graphics than I would old ones.

Eh, resolution doesn't matter as much to me when it's shooters and not fighters...
And no. Keep R-Type the way it is. The only way it would get updated would be by a fan or something, and then ungh..
