What was this game? (DOS era)

Post by tyam »

I remember back in the DOS era I used to play a horizontal shmup where you could obtain a powerup and use it as a weapon. The thing was though, the powerup added a piece to your ship. You could fire this piece of your ship off at enemies.

I remember there was a jungle level (2nd or 3rd stage, because you were "going down to the planet" or something, I don't remember the story very well), but aside from that and the part where you fire off parts of your ship as weapons (but then, how many games have had this?), I don't remember much.

Any ideas? :[

I played a lot of DOS games, but I have no clue. I'm curious though.

EDIT: Wait, you aren't talking about something like R-Type are you?
I got mad gigabytes.

It wasn't R-Type. I'm 99% sure. It was on some disc I had of like 150 DOS games (or whatever, it was packed with a bunch of other games) and I no longer have the disc. I'm sure my parents discarded of this disc back in the day.

It was just some no-name game that I can't seem to locate ANY information about, but I did find someone on an IRC channel once that said it sounded familiar.

Do you remember if the graphics were cga or vga? I've played acouple games that sound similar. I'll look through my old games and see if I can find anything similar.

I'd say it was probably VGA, just because I think it was newer, and I don't remember it looking graphically bad. But this was probably 10+ years ago, so who knows. But I'd say VGA.

Also I'm not sure if it was limited to a demo or not, but I think it only had 3 or 4 actual stages.

Now, I might have made this part up in my mind, but I'm pretty sure the level progression went something like: space, land (in a forest area), and then I am not sure. Like I said, 10+ years ago.
