Gyruss on XBLA today

Post by system11 »

Finally.

I'd been waiting for this for so very long, and happily they didn't screw it up. New graphics and sound are nicely done and don't screw with the overall look or tune, and you can select to have the old graphics and/or sound anyway. Control works pretty well on the analogue, certainly better than the d-pad (if you've played Gyruss in the arcade this should come as little surprise).

Worth 400 points. I'm currently 49th/2519, feel free to knock me down a bit ;)

I thought I wasn't going to buy it. So I downloaded the demo. And Gyruss still owns.

There's some info for Lawfer about this fine game here, here and here.

I am now #81 on the leaderboards. My gamertag is, fittingly, bVork. Feel free to add me to your friends list and compare scores.

I haven't purchased the full game yet, but I'm very impressed with the updated graphics and the new BGM. The BGM sounds awesome to me and it increases my enjoyment of the game. I need to purchase some MS point and buy the full game.

I have a Gyruss cabaret cabinet at home. This will always be one of my all time favorite games. Back in the day, people would say the game is only good due to its fantastic score. But, that is not the case. In fact my cabinet has the sound set a barely audible level and the game just rocks with or without the music. My all time high is 187,000.

As soon as I saw this topic last night, I rushed and downloaded this ASAP. They did a great job on the graphics and sound. The arrangement stays faithful to the original. I wish the power-up sound effect still had that same punch to it as the original did though. lol!

I'm ranked #37 so far. The acheivements are pretty challenging, but not too bad. I can see getting them all in a reasonable amount of time.

Damn... 24 years later and this game still ownz.
