Probably! As great as it is to see Raiden III here, please, somebody, ANYbody else then XS Games pick it up! Please?[/u]
That already happened... XS isn't publishing the game anymore, UFO Interactive is. Just go to their website and see for yourself. They've been the official U.S. publisher for a few months now.
Thank god because i'm pretty sure it would just be the exact same image used on 'Mobile Light Force' 1 and 2

And they would probably name this one part 3... matter of fact i bet that's what happened with them publishing the title. They had a whole factory full of Mobile Light Force 3 boxes just ready to ship and someone from Moss ran in their and ninja kicked thier ass. Well, at least thats the way it happened in my own little fantasy world.

Lovely ^_^

BTW I know Radio is gonna be $20, is Raiden really gonna be $30?

.
No, now even Radio Allergy is coming out April 27th. At least it will give us something more to look forward to in April. Nevertheless, I still cannot understand why it would take so long to port over either Raiden III or Radio Allergy (which has now been delayed twice). I can wait, but I really hope that Raiden III's release date is firm, now.

Yeah, there's a good chance of that, but then again, the Castle Shikigami 2 port XS translated and published was devoid of generic Charlies Angels inspired cover art.

Bummer. At least I've got both preordered already. 8) Seems like game stores won't even carry shmups other than preorders these days. Is our hobby really that obsolete?

The only consolation we have is the Japanese market. Even if Raiden III and Radio Allergy never see the light of day here in the US, at least we can import. I don't think shooters will be "obsolete" for the time being, especially with the promise shown by the XBox 360 (Senko no Rondo getting a PAL--and perhaps a US NTSC--release, and rumored interest for titles like Ikaruga for XBox Live).

The golden years are over, but as long as there is a dedicated core of shooter fans worldwide, the Japanese market should directly (and indirectly) fuel our habit for the time being. We might not get the frequency of titles that we enjoyed through the mid-90's, but they will still come--provided that we support the releases here in the US.

Let's just hope the Japanese never loose interest. That would be an act of war as far as I'm concerned. (Not that there aren't still dozens of great shmups that I have yet to play).

That delay only gives me more time to put my preorder in, had more to do than I thought this month so far and couldn't sneak my preorder in.

Question: is there TATE mode in Raiden 3 - PS2?

Does anyone know if it's featured in the U.S. release?

Not sure if those issues were fully covered. If they were, I missed them. And well, I'm lazy alright?

Yes. The Japanese PS2 release has a tate display option.

The tentative USA release date for Raiden III is 4/17/07...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

My local Gamestop says that the USA PS2 port of Raiden III is slated for an April 17th, 2007 release date (instead of the 4/20/07 release date as originally listed)..... ^_~

Shouldn't be too far off, right?

Nah. It's only a few weeks away. That ain't that long. I walked into GameCrazy on the 17th (Tuesday) to see if it came in. They just told me that they didn't get any games on that day. That's when I knew.

Raiden 3 on that charlie angels box art makes much more sense than the mobile light force title. Although the gameplay once again isnt a match whatsoever.

Those of you who can find a Raiden cab in your area are lucky, here in Florida the only shmup cab I can find is Galaga..

If this does end up getting a US release though, I'll probably end up picking it up, for collection's sake.

Gamespizzle says...

6.3

"Enjoyable as it can be in spurts, Raiden III doesn't do anything unique to stand out from other modern shoot-'em-ups, and that it isn't priced at a flat-out budget rate is a bit disquieting. "

Yeah, I was surprised as well at the $30 price. It was talked about as being a budget title for months, and then POOF!... $30? I imported the Taiwan PC version for less than $20... AND THAT WAS SHIPPED FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY!

I've been meaning to ask around about this title in stores, simply out of curiosity. Best Buy indicates April 24, Game Crazy doesn't have it listed, GameStop has it listed for April 17th, and NCSX says Tuesday-Thursday (April 17-19). If I were to get it, I'd probably get it at GC since for some reason I don't like how GS is taking over the world.

I'll check GS tomorrow if I can, though, simply out of curiosity.

When i called, the guy at GameStop basically said that when something doesn't have a lot of pre-orders, they'll ship it to the store by ground instead of overnight. So, maybe tomorrow.

I'm amazed they manage to stay in business.

Raiden III is finally in today on April 18, 2007 @ Gamestop

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

I went down to my local Gamestop today (4/18/2007) and inquired if Raiden III for the PS2 console had come in 4/17/07...the answer was that "Raiden III" isn't shipped by UPS but rather by FedEx and will definitely be in today 4-18-07 between 12:00p-2:00p sometime this afternoon. The Gamestop associate said that if he could have my name & phone number, he would gladly give me a call when it finally comes in... ^_~

And yes, I do have a $5.00 pre-paid deposit to guarantee a copy of PS2 Raiden III for myself...don't take the chance on skimping out on the measly fiver, folks. Tis a sure way not to get a copy on "day one" of release, especially for USA released shmup titles... ^_~

For all the naysayers, Raiden III for the PS2 is here today in the USA at last.....it's about fucking time, folks. Why the long wait though? ^_~

Holy shit. There's still someone who thinks GS/EB pre-orders do anything. Thought we got rid of all those.
