Something old-school akin to console shmups from back then.
Not a big fan of cave's offerings. Or what I've played of cave's stuff, I'd rather play Gaiares or Axelay or something...
What do you want from a shmup in 2007?

A shmup with advanced AI...
You either 1CC your first time through (or at least early on) or never.
Just kiddin', I think it could be cool. Though I imagine it would really fuck with the mindset of hardcore "1CC/score" fiends.
Anyways, what I would like to see in a shmup in 2007:
The DC-X boot screen followed by the G.Rev logo.

I had an idea that is kind of like Chaos Field but far more complicated... it would be like Super Paper Mario, where in 2d the bullets would be bullet hell but then you'd get into the 3d "dimension" which would sort of go to like Star Fox style or something and the patterns would be far easier to dodge. Either you'd do far less damage in this zone, or you could only be in it for so long, probably a little bit of both.
I got this idea after watching some Border Down vids on youtube, where the bullet patterns looked like 3d hoops but the playfield was 3d. Wish I could propose this to Intelligent Systems
