Ok my shmup would be called ZONE STRIKE. It will run on the NAOMI GD-ROM hardware. The button configurations will be A(Shoot) B(Bomb) C(Super Shield). It will be a vertical shooter with
lots of enemies and insane power-ups. Also it will be housed in a Egret 3 arcade cabinet by Taito. Gotta have the 2D/3D background set-up. ZONE STRIKE will have 6 stages and a final boss stage. CALL ME CRAZY FOR POSTING THIS! Gotta love SHUMPS!
DRAGON GUN CHAOS FORCE EX. A) Shoot B) Super Shot C) Bomb D) Sword! I'd put lots of walls in it and novelty power-ups, bullets shaped like skulls and dragon bosses in 15 epic stages.
It sounds nothing like a shmup, but it would own Radiant Silvergun in the blink of an eye.
A) Shoot B) Bomb C) Absorb
For absord, u would have to press C within 1-2 frames of the bullet making contact. If u press C and connect with nothing, ur ship drastically slows down and u can't fire for a second or so. However, if the absorb connects than the chain counter starts goin for big points
LEAD STORM
although there might be a game named that already.
it could run on 3d hardware, but only for accellerating the 2d graphics. backgrounds would be seamless paintings (matte style) that would be like6 feet tall x 10" or something, where background objects that need to be destroyed would be painted ontop of whatever that clear plastic stuff is they use.
sprites would also be hand drawn scanned and painted on pc in a watercolor style.
it would feature every explosion dealing damage, enemy debris would also cause damage, it would be so insane with destruction, but it wouldn't be overwhelming because of the explosion damage/debris. you would be able to shred oncoming debris with your LEAD STORM. gameplay would be shred, dodge and chain explosions to cause max damage and combo points. main weapon would be all lead based, basically giving you better "cooldown" speeds and higher denser rates of fire, you would also have standard bombs which could be chained to cause explosions that continue traveling up the screen as you scroll (if you're really good). sweet eh?
LEAD STORM! THE HEATED BARRELS WARP AS EXPERIENCE THE NEXT DIMENSION BRING CHAOS! and it would feature a rocking soundtrack. time to sleeep
PULSE JAMMER
-vert
-colorful 2D sprites and backgrounds, anime intro and end
-catchy technopop soundtrack
-play as a mecha (no selection) with small hitbox, 1 fluid movement speed
-against other spaceships and mecha in the future
-button: A - shoot (autofire when held)
-6 stages, checkpoints (w/checkpoint of 6th stage at the very beginning), no 2nd loop
-laser, spread, and homing weapons (from the default vulcan); can be powered up 2 more times via power ups
-no score system besides enemy kills, no optional boss parts, no medals, no chains, no 'no miss' bonuses, obviously no 'no bomb' bonuses
-features plenty of kamikaze attacks, enemies from behind and the side, no-startup full-screen enemy lasers, suicide bullets, enemy homing bullets, enemy reflectors, enemy steals power ups to make their own weapons stronger, final boss with same firepower and same hitbox as your mecha (also gets destroyed in 1 hit but easily dodges your attacks)
"EAT BURNING PLASMA DEATH, SLIME SUCKERS SUPER DUPER EX PLUS ALPHA DELTA EPSILON OMEGA HERE WE GO THIS TIME IS FOR REAL SHMUPS.COM FORUM QUIZ DELUXE FEATURING CHIBI-TWITCHDOCTOR AND CHIBI-8 1/2"
Don't know about the play mechanics, but I imagine it as a vertical shooter, for DC, character based. Featuring.... US! In digitized and hand-drawn sprite, polygon, and cel-shaded versions. When you chain 300 white or black enemies without missing, you enter "Chingaesthesia" (kinda like Rez's Synesthesia, but even more chingon) and you become an invincible mod blasting dumb threads and PHPBB errors. If you can destroy the three Gamespy icons hidden through the game, you recover the old forum's archive, for great justice! (Chibi-Twitch, and Chibi-8.5 are time-released characters, btw. Chibi-Schatten unlockable through the Konami code! )
If you preorder it from Play-Asia, they send you a Chibi-Twitch and Chibi-8.5 keychain.
(Sorry. I don't know why I'm still browsing the web at 3 AM. I think I better hit the bed.)
You have the most powerful craft in the sky with awesome firepower and hyper-destructive bombs, but you'll spend most of this game talking to all the hundreds of other ships (and dodging their incoming fire), tracking down the man who killed your father and asking where sailors hang out. Levels are absolutely huge, but not much really happens there...
This is a big game with several installments, premiering on the DC, but the second installment was snatched up for the Xbox, and with no future installments in sight, no one knows how this series will end.

Eugenics: you know it's right!
Unleashability of Chaotic Cloud
It would be a 2D vertical shmup with minimalistic high scores, character based, loosely based on the norse mythology. The story would be about Thor not being able to start thunderstorms. Loki would be the bad guy but not the final boss. All characters should be cute. Male or female. All bosses would start rune-attacks when certain conditions are met.
What? What do you mean rip-off? I don't know what you're talking about!

Yes, that's the Japanese name of a top-down racer called Mad Gear in the US.

Here, here!
I had an idea for a shmup in Junior High called 'Starship Eternia' which basically used a ship that was sort of a cross between the NC1701-D from Star Trek The Next Generation and the ship used in the old PC game Starflight. It was a similar "federation" type of scenario except that the planets were at war and it was up to you to bring peace & order back to the galaxy. I envisioned this massive super-weapon as a special thing that filled the screen with this wide angle laser that mowed down everything in it's path. It was a charge-only weapon and left you vulnerable for a second or two after each use.

"Hey guys! Are you guys sailors? I'm looking for Sailors!"
ahahahah! can you just imainge stopping to chat with the other ships and his serious voice cutting hrough the gameplay, 'I'm looking for the man who killed m father, do you know who killed my father? And by the way, are you a sailor?'
- "Vertizontal" (ie, like Radiant Silvergun or Giga Wing).
- Scoring system: each enemy has a value of 1 point, multiplied by the ship's power level, multiplied by the current rank level, multiplied by the current combo length.
- Ship's power increases by increasing the combo length, and also by hitting enemies and "grazing" bullets. Upon death, power is reduced by one whole level.
- Rank increases by destroying enemies quickly, maintaining lengthy chains, powering up and not being hit. Unlike many games with rank, however, you want the rank to increase as it significantly increases scoring opportunities. More enemies appear on higher ranks, allowing for even more scoring opportunities.
- Rank and Power are both visibly displayed in meters at the bottom of the screen, while score and combo are counted at the top.
- Rank and Power max out at a level of 8. This means the maximum base value of an enemy ship is 64 points, not counting the combo multiplier.
- The ship has three weapons, but they power up equally. One is a straight shot, one is a wide shot, and one is a homing shot. The straight shot is the strongest, and the homing shot is the weakest. All three weapons are accessible from the start.
- Your ship has shield units, which are not unlike the health bar in ESPRa.De/ESPGaluda. This explains away the "lives" thing, at least.
- Levels are long, like RSG, and broken into four subsections. There are eight stages in total. It will be possible to chain through entire levels, however it may require you to keep the rank high in certain spots.
- Bosses can be added to the normal level chain for best points. They have an additional multiplier based on the level you're currently in.
- The combo is time-based, and depletes after 2-4 seconds, depending on other factors. Hitting enemies slows the depletion rate, while destroying them fills the meter again. This is too DDP-like for my tastes, though.
- There are no collectibles.
- I need to work the details out a lot more.
It's a fantasy/WWII style shmup much like the Raizing and Pysko games.
Characters you can pick from are WWII airplanes and different dragons and they all have different weapons. There's also a charge attack, where if you let go of the fire button for a second, you can charge and release for a special attack. The gameplay is more akin to Raiden than manics like Donpachi, athough there will be moments where tons of bullets are being flung at you. There are different stages and to go to a different stage, you must meet certain critera (like say, blow up all the mega turrents). Although story isn't a huge part, it does play a role in what's going on and why these dragons and WWII pilots are blowing stuff up (to stop an evil empire of course). There's even an Engrish option for those who's don't care about story (and you can turn cutscences and dialog off).
This shmup can be catered to everyone, from the hardcore to John Q. Gamer. Mr. Mainstreamer can turn on a lifebar option and have unlimited continues (but gets the bad endings only), while Mr. I-have-Ninja-skills-in-my-blood-Hardcore can turn up the diffculty and get some real punishment. Why the catering and some focus on story? To help sales and revive the shmup genre.
Sigh....now I really wish this game were real...........
I guess I would call it "D/L" of course somehow stylish designed.
The first level would be much like cho-rensha (without powerups).
The last attack of the first boss will kill you always.
Then you have to fight against two rather weak bosses and depending which you kill first you will play the rest of the game in "death" or "life" mode (ships would be different designed).
From here on the game becomes maniac.
Death:
The normal shot is a straight forward sword which does not absorb bullets and has the length of 2/3 of the screen.
The secondary shot is a short sword which absorbs bullets and is controlled directly by the stick (keyboard). You can't move if you use it.
The bomb places a dark hole which does little damage to enemys passing it and absorbs bullets which directly hit it (very small hitbox). Pressing the bomb button again will teleport you to the dark hole (which will disappear then) and create another one at your former position. This attack has no limit but some delay (10 seconds or so).
Life:
At the moment I have the idea of a normal ship (wide/narrow shot, normal bomb) but I'm thinking of something like growing wings, too (if I have worked out a better "concept" I will edit my post).
The last boss is some kind of plant which grows and evolves depending on how you attack it. Beating it will open the endless mode where you can fight the last boss forever (pressing all three buttons at once changes between death and life here).
It's a dark tale set in the Gradius universe, it's about two boyhood friends, both growing up to be ace pilots.
He hero, (or anti-hero), becomes the greatest of all pilots, while his friend finds himself in the shadows, and becomes jealous. Sensing an oppurtunity within this jealousy, Venom promises the friend eternal power for betraying his people, and helping destroy the hero (who happens to be the only one able to stop the next Bacterion invasion).
The Betrayer, as his name becomes, uses his newfound alien power to take over the Gradian Senate, and sets his world on a collision course with destruction. The Hero, sensing this evil, speaks up against this in council. The Betrayer then lashes out against the Hero, setting up his family for execution. Although the Hero is able to escape, he is unable to save his family, who are killed. In rage, the Hero steals a proto-type Vic Viper, and flees Gradius, swearing a horrible vengeance.
He becomes an outlaw, hunted by both the corrupt Gradian government, and the Bacterions. Meanwhile, the Betrayer slowly begins to destroy Gradius from the inside, and sends innocent prisones to the Bacterions for insane experiments. The Betrayer also starts to become mad with power, something Venom had planned.
Living on the edge of the universe, the Hero, plans his revenge. He takes his blackened, war-torn craft on many raids against both the increasingly powerful Bacterions forces, and the Betrayers fleet, waiting for an oppurtunity to strike at the heart.
Finally, in a series of battles, the Hero moves deep into BLACK SPACE, the center of the Bacterion Empire, and destroys Venom. He then turns his attentions to the Betrayer, who has issued a challenge to meet him and his fleet above the Planet Gradius. The Hero meets the challenge, destroying the fleet, and facing the Betrayer in a final battle.
After his fleet is destroyed, and his piloting skills bested, the Betrayer flees, flying over Gradius to his secret base in the capital city. The Hero catches him, and sends his ship down in flames to crash into the Senate building.
The Hero then flies away into space, to die fom his wounds and burns suffered from the intense fighting.
So ends LEGEND OF ANTI-VIPER
---------
It's hard to tell the story in a such a short space, and to communicate it properly with my limited word skills.

One sperms vertical scrolling quest to the fallopian tubes!
I had something similar in mind.
It would be called The Sentient Gamete, a fully organically-based shmup in the vein of Abadox. However, it would use polygonal graphics and the effects of modern day "3D" shmups like Gradius V. A heavy emphasis would be put on naturally interacting with the environment, such as "elastic" walls and regenerating tissue.
Any narrative would be solely implied during the gameplay; the first stage would simply begin with a surge of sperm cells flying through a tunnel. Of course, you're one of them. Various defenses would shoot down the others and by the end of the stage you'd be the only one remaining. I'm still not sure how you'd actually shoot; maybe the tail would be used to interact, but then your swimming speed would slow down. I imagine the game would conclude by reaching an egg of some sort.
