Danshaku Vs. Nanostray on DS -- which is better?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

IIRC, Nanostray appeared first for the Nintendo DS platform in North America. Then later a Japanese version of Nanostray appeared under the new name of "Danshaku" courtesy of Taito themselves in 2006.

How is the gameplay of Danshaku compared to that of it's earlier counterpart of Nanostray?

Here's a link to what the front cover of Japanese DS shmup game of Danshaku looks like courtesy of NCSX:

From what I hear, Danshaku allows you to switch weapons without using the touchscreen.
Good luck or cry.

true, and that's a huge improvement! danshaku has a somewhat higher difficulty level than at leasts it's usa (and probably it's european) counterpart and comes with better artwork.

danshaku is the best version to go for.

Not really on topic but since the version to go with seems to be Danshaku.

Any news on Nanostray 2? After they released the trailer im really looking forward to it, seems improved on just about everything.

yes, but it only lets you cycle through the weapons; not directly select them like the touchscreen does.

So? That's still a lot better than having to look at the screen and see what you're picking.
To be fair, the weapons sucked anyways, all you needed was the main vulcan-esque weapon for the game, and you sometimes had to switch just to defeat a certain boss or get through one obstacle.

One weapon per button would've been genious.

It's still listed as "TBA", but it hasn't been removed from the developer's website.

Man, not having to use the touch screen to change weapons sounds NICE! I love Nanostray, but that get's to be a pain in the arse very quickly.

well that sux!... i was really hoping for the game to come out b4 xmas '07, but now count me out, not buyin it. damn! i hate it when devs say they will release somethin in a certain time, and then delay it for no known reason... in the very 1st vid i saw of this game, it was scheduled for release for Q2 '07 ... and now its for "early '08"!!!!.... when they make me wait that long, i just forget about that game, and spend my money in somethin else.

If they rushed the game, and it didn't play well, people would complain too.

This is twisted logic. You forget about something if you have to wait? By this thinking, how do you find a mate?

we're talkin about different thigs here... you ahve to be patient when tryin to find a mate, thats for sure.

when it comes about games, if the DEVELOPERS say they're releasing a game in certain time span, you give them a couple more months for the thing to come out, knowin that theres always somethin that comes up... but, dude, IM NOT WAITING FOR A GAME FOREVER, after all im gonna give them MY MONEY for their product, so when they make me wait, i just tend to forget about the subject and move on... there always be another game for me to play and hopefully enjoy.

game was scheduled for spring '07... i thought i might come out by summer '07 or at the very least, xmas '07 season... but when they say "early '08" at this moment, its more than 5 months from now (in the best case scenario... )... and by then, i'll be pretty much fed up with somethin else.... so again, im not buyin it.

and for the "majesco shareholder"... whatever man.

Ok, how do you set the weapon selection to the shoulder buttons in this port? I can't read any of the Japanese in the menus.

you don't. you change weapons with X, no configuration is possible i recall correctly. also, danshaku is not a port, it's an original ds game.
