Both gone now I'm afraid, but I had the Ninja Warriors triple screen arcade machine, and a twin screen Darius II right next to it.

I've got a modest collection of console shmups, but nothing specifically stands out as far as its rarity or anything like that...I COULD possibly brag about some of the deals I've managed to get though....I'll try to recall a few off the top of my head...

Strikers 1945 II (SAT): Mint and complete (w/spine + reg cards), approx. 13$ plus shipping.

Skull Fang (SAT): Same condition and almost the exact same price as above.

DoDonPachi DOJ (PS2): New and sealed, 45$ shipped.

EDF (SNES): Cart + box (no inst.), 55 cents, plus shipping (which was several times what I actually paid for the thing )

Those are about the best I can recall offhand...hopefully this post won't derail the topic or anything, heh.

Both came from a German operator in a large haul a friend of mine imported, you can see pictures of the two in question there, and some others in the /cabs directory.

The only thing I have worth noting is my copy of Sin & Punishment. Got it off some guy on eBay who had bought a bunch of copies of the game, unscrewed the back of the cartridges, and replaced them with the backs of cheap US games. It probably totally kills its collector value, but I think it's pretty fucking nifty. Didn't have to blow extra money on a converter cart. And it cost about half what the game goes for usually on eBay.

I'm just getting into collecting. I've got my eye on amassing a gigantic selection of Saturn games, and it's likely I'll come into having a wide variety of Genesis games too. Oddly, no compulsion to collect Dreamcast games.

This is all the PCE stuff I traded away too. One of my biggest regrets ever.

PCE CD:
Spriggan
Spriggan Mark 2
Hellfire-S
Nexzr Special
Super Darius

It sucked to be a poor starving student where the only way to afford new games was to sell your old ones. :(

here are some games I think were a steal:

Thunder Force V (Saturn) complete, mint cond. - $17

R-Type III (SNES) complete, mint cond. - $15

Raiden project (PSX) complete, mint cond. - $25

Giga Wing 2 (DC) complete, mint cond. - $12

Einhander (PSX) complete, mint cond. - $12
( GameCrazy had 2 copies. So I bought both! )

G. Darius (PSX) complete, mint cond. - $8

Mars Matrix (DC) brand new - $17

Ikaruga (DC) brand new - $30

RayCrisis (PSX) brand new - $16

Gradius Gaiden (PSX) brand new - $23

Most of these I got on eBay using "Buy It Now". Got lucky finding some of 'em too. A few I got from either a dealer or a gameshop.

As far as rarity goes, I have nothing spectacular. A few rare prices for rare conditions is all. :)

I am rather proud of my Judgement Silversword...

iatneH, Super Laydock has RUN=DIM as well. There was an online store selling 'em for $39 or something like that awhile back, I gotta check if they still have any left.

I very possibly own one of the rarest C64 shmups ever: "Boom". I don't know how reliable that particular bit of information is, but I read somewhere on the net that the entire print run that was sold consisted of only 10 (!) copies. I own one of them.

It's debatable if the collectors value of that game is very high, though, because a) it's a terrible game and b) nobody has ever heard of it anyway.

I take pride in having one of the most generic collections ever. No rares, no LE's. Now don't tell me that's not unusual for this forum!

I also have a copy of MUSHA for Genesis. Oddly enough, even though it's a US version, I ended up buying it from a seller on the trade board here and having it shipped over from the UK. I've also got a Sega Nomad to play it on. My collection is pretty small though, although I can say that I have the complete collection of US Gamecube shmups (but that pretty much consists of Ikaruga and Xevious as an unlockable in Starfox Assault.)

Not all shooting related but stuff I like having in my collection:

Rez - purchased new for $30 a while back, it seems so rare now. It is almost a form of interactive art, rather than a game and I am glad to have it.

New smaller SNES in the box - I play the other version mostly, but it is cool to have one.

NES top loader - makes me feel good inside having one. It is funny when casual gamers come over and they are like: what is that?

Final Fantasy NES (complete with everything) - only paid $3 at a used shop a few years ago. Never play it, but I suppose it is worth more.

Namco Museum 1-5. It took a while to find 4 and 5, but having all of them now is kinda sweet. I like #2 the best, Gaplus rocks!

Hey, stone, I think you need to get Namco Museum Encore to comlete your collection. Or am I wrong?
