Wow, what the hell did they do to Giga Wing Generations?
First off, it looks like the game runs at 10 frames per second, 2nd off, I couldn't even tell points from bullets, 3rdly, there's absolutely no story, I mean come on man... It is such a horrible game! I thought part 2 was bad, wow this is such a horrible game next to Ibara, because in Ibara, I couldn't also tell what was bullets or points because of the poor graphics and artwork.
I'm really ashamed that they made Giga Wing, one of my favorite shmups into a piece of trash, ugh! What are your thoughts on it?

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

What story!? LOL, I remember in Giga Wing it had one, but I didn't see anything in Generationscircuitface wrote:Let me handle this. I speak jive.
I never have GigaWing fan. More for first than second iteration. Care is not harbored for Generations. It is story what bring shame.
As for the first poster, sorry but I seriously could not tell what anything was in Ibara, like I been playing shmups since I was a child, I'm 23 now, but I couldn't tell what anything was, and it's just too confusing, to me it was the graphics and artwork of the bullets and points which confused me, I would much rather play Sonic Wings, which I actually like but don't think it's such a great game. No disrespect to the Ibara fans, I've watched videos of it and seen it's not bad, but I just cannot play that game for shit. It aggravates my eyes.

In the original two games the storyline segments pop up between levels. They don't really have much of a point and really just break the action. I also wasn't a big fan of the artwork. What really ruins the game for me is how gawdy looking it is. All those gold icons and stuff all over the place is really annoying. It just seems like overkill to me.
Similarly, i don't get into alot of the bullet hell type shooters for the same reasons. Guwange is one beautiful game but it just seems really cheapened by the amount of projectiles on screen at a time. I think the same could be said for the Gigawing series. It's almost like they were relying on the eye-candy to suck in players. Not to mention that this was worsened by the move to 3d graphics in the second game.
Maybe i just expected something a bit grittier and more intense out of something titled 'Gigawing'.

who cares about story? its about gameplay and scoring and in both those aspects GG is tight as hell!
ive never played the PS2 port (it is generally said it is pretty bad) but the Type-X version fucking ROCKS! no two ways about it.
its on par with the first game and blows the second the hell away.
ed: you sucking at a game and the game sucking is not the same kind of sucktion.. one has nothing to do with the other.

No argument with the framerate, or the lack of tate mode, but...HeLGeN-X wrote:First off, it looks like the game runs at 10 frames per second
I actually found GWG's bullet visibility to be the best of the series, since for the first time it used extra-bright "flashing" bullets, a la Mars Matrix, almost exclusively. Also, the medals were smaller and less obstructive than in previous series entries. The lack of tate mode, as I said, hurt the visibility, but otherwise I actually found it the best of the series.2nd off, I couldn't even tell points from bullets
In this case I actually consider it one of the game's strengths...the first GW's cheesy anime-esque story worked, considering the "sensory overload" nature of the gameplay, but when they tried to work in Biblical references and whatnot in the second one I couldn't help but roll my eyes...it was almost as pretentious and ill-fitting as the background gunk in RSG/Ikaruga. I honestly prefer the lack of a story here: some shmups are at least somewhat about the story, but GW is not one of them. It's about ridiculous amounts of crap on the screen, and it should stick to its strengths.3rdly, there's absolutely no story, I mean come on man...
Ibara is far from perfect in visibility terms either, but it was actually a ways improved in that area from it's pseudo-predecessor, Battle Garegga...the arcade's Black Label and the PS2's Arrange Mode offer even easier to see bullets, though the gameplay system is different too.in Ibara, I couldn't also tell what was bullets or points because of the poor graphics and artwork.

I usually just end up editing my post 50 gajillion times, as I generally don't read my post until AFTER I've clicked "submit." Haha, speaking of punctuation mistakes; see if you can pick out the one in Ceph's post. -_^ Or the half dozen probably strewn throughout mine.Ceph wrote:Nate wrote:![]()

The topless scene in the 1st Airplane movie's a classic...
Which Airplane movies, the first one with the upper-topless jiggly ones or the "covered behind a thin T-Shirt" rack in the second one? (Both scenes are from the same very well-endowed model/actress...) ^_~GaijinPunch wrote:Edit, Yeah, it's one. I really only remembered the Boobies part.mirkvid wrote:thats airplane (one)

Actually, if one watches the first Airplane movie carefully with attentive eyes, there are several stacked models shown in the film..... ^_~

Not that this thread really needs to get back on topic... but for HelGen-X's reference:
GWG thread 1
GWG thread 2
Which Airplane was it where they landed on the moon at the end... was that number 2? Someone needs to upload the whole Under-Unger-Over bit to Youtube.

Didn't realize there was a Giga Wing topic, as for "can't tell points from bullets" I couldn't even SEE a letter or number or whatever on them, that's why I couldn't tell. It looks like the game is constantly blinking as if the refresh mode on my TV was 120Hz or something, it just moves slow and links weird and ugly.
And I mean GWG1 had a story at least, and it was nice to know they actually put one, but well the gameplay in this sucks donkey nuts.
