That page says its just test, and not a true port. Since Akira couldn't get stage 5 to work on the PS2 I somehow find it comical that they might even consider releasing a remix on DS.

Well that video of Doom on that site seems promising.
I too am in the what the fuck catergory as I do (edit) NOT want to get a DS.

Well, that one caught me by surprise. I've been thinking of getting a DS though, so... by all means?
It seems odd that if they're willing to "remix" the game for DS, why wouldn't they simply do the same for the PS2 port that they've already worked so much on? I suppose it has to do with the rest of the PS2 port being nearly arcade perfect in the other stages, whereas a DS port would perhaps be consistent in its not-arcade-exactness throughout all the stages.
Does the game actually appear adapted to vertical yoko screen format, or is it simply squashed tate? Very interesting in any case; Thanks Arcadia!

It's about fucking damn time that a true shmup appeared on the DS platform..... ^_~
And Nanostray (from the same folks who gave us the GBA titles of Iridion 3-D and Iridion 2) doesn't count?
And can the DS display at a smooth 60 frames-per-seconde framerate? (That's what the Ketsui PCB runs at...) ^_~

And if Ketsui does get ported to the DS, the PS2 port will never be released to the general public due to it not being acceptable for general release. No wonder why the PCB version is in such high demand.
Of course, such tradeoffs in framerates versus battery life versus CPU power -- overclock the CPU at the expense of battery life to have a decent 60fps framerate on the DS platform. ^_~
I don't think such a 30 fps framerate Ketsui port on the DS will sit well with the shmup community, right?
A 60fps framerate Ketsui port on the DS would be pushing it -- I'd rather go with such 60fps version myself if it's technically feasible..... ^_~

Yeah, they say they're taking votes on whether to release it or not. I can see how people really want to play this, but for those that think releasing Ketsui on the DS is a good idea, congratulations on completely missing the boat.
They wouldn't have to adhere so strictly to a "recreation" which stopped them before. Anyone can tell Doom's patterns shown in the video are frame for frame very different. Looks much slower to me. And let's not forget the different resolution/aspect ratio. They would actually have more freedom.I somehow find it comical that they might even consider releasing a remix on DS.

And to "catch the boat" would be the PS2 port of Ketsui being released as is (with the non-fixable slowdown in Stage 5 area) -- it ain't gonna happen, folks. ^_~GaijinPunch wrote:Yeah, they say they're taking votes on whether to release it or not. And does anybody know of a secret stash of Ketsui PCBs to be found? ^_~

It is noticeable on DS that it's much slower and perhaps even slightly spread on the patterns over the original. A very bizarre move.
It's hard to believe they'd consider a retool for the respective handhelds over the Xbox. Sheer madness.
Ketsui Lite? (although the frame-rate seems even better than DS...?!)Icarus wrote:Even funnier: Ketsui on GBA.
