Does the Gameworks in Auburn Hills MI suck?

Because I don't want to drive all the way over there unless they are better than D&B's. I want real shmups, not car games and horse racing games and three gun games in the corner.

Gameworks shoot them up:
Galaga

I haven't been in about 3 years but it is pretty much like D&B with the bar thing and video games. They did have a few retro games upstairs like Frogger, Pac Man and Galaga. Don't really remember though.

Oh I like horse racing games  Derby Owners Club is the awesome! (still I search for a console horse racing game like it.)

When I was there it was as Sonic R described it. I haven't been there in a pretty long time, and since Sega bought out Gameworks, I'm not sure what they have now. Someone on the board did tell me that they have After Burner: Climax, but it costs $5. I doubt they have any shooters, but on Thursday they do have a $10 unlimited play from 7pm-2am.

I haven't been to the Gameworks around here (Seattle) in a while, but last time I was there they had a Raiden Fighters. Given the fact that a cab with Raiden Fighters currently exists all of two steps from my computer desk, this doesn't do me much good. They also had a Solar Assault (3D Gradius spin-off in a sit-down cab) though.

It has been ages since I was at Gameworks. All I remember was being pissed that they took out Street Fighter III 3rd Strike.

If shmups are what you're after, avoid it. It's not worth your time.

Mine in OH has unlimited play from 8pm-1am. After Burner Climax is 35 credits for the Commander version which tilts only right and left. For that price I think it should be the Climax unit (which goes back and forth as well). Thirty five credits is ridiculous when it comes out to nearly 2 dollars a play (and that's when you buy a $25 card recharge).

The Cycraft version Initial D 3 cab is cheaper at 28 credits, and is in fact a better sim cab with 4 way movement. When the cab lurched back on "GO!" at the start of the race, I thought "Why can't ABC do this?". Sega should've made their After Burner Climax Commander version to be like this one.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Are there ANY good arcades for Shmups in Michigan? Pete's in Ann Arbor only has Raiden Fighters and Raiden 2 which is beat up. I would at least love to know where the Strikers 1945 II machine from the deceased AMC Westland went. Then again it is probably damn near destroyed by now if it is at a bar with out any one to take care of it. Sigh...

I suggest that by going the Supergun route or all the way, and getting your own arcade cabinet and some arcade shmup PCBs, will sate your appetite for some arcade shmuppin' action..... ^_~

As the old saying goes: "Bite the bullet and pay through the nose..." -- sure, arcade PCBs aren't cheap (especially with the newest arcade PCB kit releases from Japan anyways).

Unless, somebody opens up a true indy arcade in Modesto, CA for the true die-hard arcade enthusiast like me, it ain't gonna happen. Last major independent arcade (with arcade shmup titles) in Modesto, CA, closed down in early 1998 due to losing it's lease -- sad, sad day when that happened.....

I told you guys, we need to come up with a place that has an Alpha account that's convenient for most, and I can work on getting at least one decent shooter there. :) Had it not been for bad timing, we would have gotten a Ketsui machine at AFC. I'll try to find out where that Strikers machine went. It was actually in decent condition too. I also forgot to mention that AFC Troy should be getting a Third Strike machine. Apparently we're hosting The Main Event this year. I'm not sure if it will be staying there, or if it's only going to be there for The Main Event though.

What the hell? That is news to me. Must have been a recent change.

I was there once and was disgusted @ $5 a pop games.

I have not been back.
____________

EDIT:

Wizzard's closed about 2 years ago that was the end of the good ol' days of gaming in Detroit...however, an acquaintance of mine is talking about opening something half arcade, half lan business @ 8 mile & Gratiot at the new strip mall there (where drummy oldsmobile used to be).

I think they also have Aero Fighters 2 on the NG FWIW. And Galaga.

Last time i went to Butterfly on van dyke a couple years back they had Gaplus, Raiden 2, Asteroids, Galaxian, and a number more. Don't know if they still do, but it's something!

Marvins in Farmington has sunset riders and metal slug, but I can't remember what other games.

Are you talking about the place with the putput and mini-Karts? If so they have Gaplus(working with slight problems) Zero Gunner(Broken) Raiden2(2-Player broken) RaidenDX(Broken) Galaga(Mostly Broken) Viper Phase1(Completly working) Centipede(Completly working).
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

Sadly not worth shlepping all the way over there. Why can't ppl take care of their stuff? I like to play Blazing Star at Video Game Underground, not 2 miles from my apartment. That guy takes care of his stuff. Meanwhile about 4 miles away, the manager of Q-Zar assures me that they're fixing their Classic Games emu cab as soon as the part arrives in the mail.

You thought that they treated their retro stuff bad? I was playing House of the Dead 4 there with my freind, we got to the second level and it froze...... A FREAKEN LINDBERG GAME!?! All most all their Guncom games freeze and their fighting game joysticks are busted. This place's selection is great but they need to fix their stuff. :x

Shoot them up arcade sighting!

My wife and I went to see 'Grindhouse' today at the Star Theater in Taylor, Michigan. She had gone to the restroom and I glance around the place and notice some arcade machines. as I get closer, there it is - a game I like and will play!

Zero Gunner 2!

It takes 2 credits to play, so I pop in 2 quarters and uh oh, the joystick is junk. I bang it left so I can select Hokum. Well I manage to get to the second level with a pos joystick. Well that was it the movie was starting.

After the movie I had to check if the player 2 side is ok. Sure enough it is good enough. I got to the third stage. It put me in Sea of Cloud(I like Sea of Cloud 1st) and well I died. The wife wanted to get going and was like "you have that at home". It has 3 buttons. 2 for shoot and one for turn. I didn't know how to use my special. Oh well it was fun to enjoy an arcade shoot them up.

Anyways it was cool to see a shootie and it was one that I really like too.

Auburn Hills MI suck?
Great Lakes Crossing? Definitely.
Pinball Petes
Broken
ZG2
Awesome find. I give it 3 weeks.
Strikers 1945 II
Putters (formally Putt Putt) off Washtenaw 5 minutes from EMU campus has a Plus. It works, but it's set to the U.S. 2 lives default.

That's the place. I haven't been there in a long while, so it's possible that the machine quality has dropped.

They don't have Asteroids anymore? Nuts, I wanted to buy that.
