Wow, I'm never sleeping on Progear again.

Post by HeLGeN-X »

I just played it again, and I don't know if I had it on hard, but I died quite a freaking few times. The last boss was so awesome, the whole game is good, I don't know why I didn't play it more, I didn't realize it was a manic shooter.

Dope game!

How could you not realize this? It's apparent in the first level.
It's a damn fine game.

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

The default settings are different for each country. I believe the USA version is set to much eaiser than Japan version. Of course we all go by the japan settings here (and on the high score thread).

The actual default difficulty is the same. There is only a numerical difference.

yeah its pretty fly ..........especially for hori manic

I love it, but it feels a bit short for some reason. The last boss always kicks my ass quite a bit. Especially those yellow/green arrow bullets. Very hard to get through.

I absolutely love the graphic style.. but the music is a bit bland (but suiting)

Yeah I don't think I like it's style so much either. And the sound that plays everytime you get one of those stones or trinkets or rings is annoying.

I'm another who's luke-warm on its style. Can't get into it so far, but I admit I haven't put in much effort. Maybe this summer.

I think there are differences in either setting. US 2 != JPN 4. This is why there are two different HS tables, no?

*shrug*

I'm just going by my own observations and comments mentioned in the high-score thread. I personally couldn't tell a difference...though that could just be me. Scores for the US version in the HS thread are significantly lower...though that more than likely has to do with the number of people playing that rev.

The japanese region is definitely more difficult in that it shoots more bullets, more often. However, it's the only one I've finished the 1st loop of because more bullets means it's usually easier to clear the screen of bullets with a charge shot.

I like it, but the manic gameplay in a manic game was a little disorienting at first. Still can't get past the second level. :?

it's good. but i wish the bosses had health bars, and there weren't so many arcing bullet sprays. it could do with a full-auto button as well... :? and don't get me started on the cps suicide battery bullshit

(to helgen -> i wasn't ripping the piss before. this forum needs less elitism and more slang! 8) )

You can enable this in MAME dipswitch. Pretty sure that you can do it as well on the PCB, too.

I somehow dislike autofire in games, that's what makes them fun to me because it's like I'm shooting everytime I press the button, where's the fun in auto-firing, unless you're just scoring or something. I love pressing the button.

Well I do use autofire in Mushihimesama, but it's only for when I need the wider shot with the traces.
