I'll go as far to say Gradius V is my favorite shooter.
My love goes deep for this baby.

It's a great game, I pretty much bought a PS2 for that (and R-Type Final) and it got me back into shooters in a big way.

It's gets frustrating for me due to my inept skills/lack of practice but to be honest I can't really fault it.

Not to be ot, but how did R-Type Final go for you? I recently bought both RT Final and GV and I don't even think they are comparable. GV is amazing, RT Final feels like some high school game project.
I got mad gigabytes.

I am somewhat biased as it was the original R-Type that really got me into shooters, but although I was initially disapointed (by the first level at least), discovering all the new weapons and level variations kept me hooked for a while... So I like it, although I think Delta is better.

Also, I'd barely looked at the previous Gradius games before GV, so through that I discovered the lovely Gradius Gaiden.

I was in to shooters for a while, but this game got me playing them a lot more seriously. Much love for this masterpiece.
