New shmupper from France

Well it's actually been like 2 weeks since I joined this board but I never introduced myself at all, so I'm doing it now since I noticed new comers were doing it ;D

I'm 20 and live in Dijon, France, fan of shmups (mainly Cave like DEL could tell you ;D). My favorite is Dodonpachi ^_^!!

I don't know any single person interested in shmups in real life. Couldn't really get my friends to play them more than a few hours. Very few people play arcade games in France and Arcades have actually kind of disappeared. Can't find a place anymore, anywhere I've been in France or Spain --a They all closed one after the other over the last couple of years. Pretty sad uh?

Anyway glad to see there are actual people outside of Japan who appreciate this awesome genre that STG is.

Yeah, sad but true that shooting game players are hard to find in the western world. But thanks to places like this a community will still remain.

There was also a massive arcade arcade full of shooters, all in candy cabs in a shopping mall in Calais I think, though that was about 2 years ago now.

Ah yeah I remember seeing the cabs in Disneyland. There's also a "Parc Asterix" near Paris that had arcade cabinets. But it's kind of rare nowadays and when you live in a average town in France, there's good chances that you won't find arcade cabinets anywhere around. :(

To say that 7 or 8 years ago there were up to 3 or 4 arcades in my town :( !

Maxxi Games
Retrogameshop
Neolegend
Versus Dojo

but it seems either they are shops or fighting games oriented.

Any hint,or is it completely over?
