Agree with above posters, the first game was entirely too long. In fact, nothing in the game lived up to the first few hours. The whole hydra battle, the fatalities with the minotaurs and the medusa... after that the game pretty much ran out of tricks and the combat system didn't have enough depth to keep it interesting.
I just spent 2 hours with the sequel, and it is pretty damn amazing, hopefully it keeps up the pace.

Just finished it. Fucking amazing game. I didn't know if they could keep up with the pace of the first one, but they did. And better. Phenomenal.
I need to pop the first one in - did Kratos' voice get higher pitched or something in part 2?

This game is intense. I played the first one all the way through on hard, but failed to beat Aries after a few hours of trying. This one is even harder than the first on hard, but oh so good. About 9 hours in. The new moves are pretty ridiculous. I was playing yesterday and found myself thinking how much some of the puzzles almost feel Zelda-esque, in a good way. It gives you a little break from the constant action.

There were a couple of fights in part 2 that almost cost me a controller. One was the fight in the lava-room with the bunch of medusas and other enemies. I kept getting caught by the medusa-gaze, usually in mid-jump which is instant death when you come crashing to the ground as stone.
The other was the 2 3-headed dog fight with other enemies around. They kept spawning more dogs and at one point I think I had 5 or 6 large dogs. That took 6 or 7 tries to keep the population down.
The last set of boss fights at the end of part 2 are excellent. Very well thought out, very engrossing.

Just beat this part finally.
Basically you have to not panit (at least, that was my problem) when the lava shows up. Make sure you can leap up and fly to the wall that just exploded and grab on (there's a rough part). After a while (and some rock dodging, the platform will come back and you'll have to beat the minotaur. Then you can push part of his rock-corpse up to the edge of the platform and jump to the next area.
I think I also died 20 times here just figuring out what the hell I was supposed to do.

Im enjoying it at the moment.
Just got past a room with an eagle and ice..another bat room and then a room with Cerburus's and knights.
Those horn blowing ******* that get on top of those cyclops creatures take the ******* piss. If they get you once they constantly hit you and you can't move for about 5 seconds.
The only thing I Don't like about this game so far is the storyline (which seems patched together and not as strong as the first game) and I think it sucks that you die so many times on trial and error or just an overwhelming amount of respawning enemies.
The bit with the translator was awesome "talk" O O O O O O O O, head smash..

I went through it on easy, then started concentrating on the challenges.......which aren't as bad as the first one, I think. Managed to pull a Titan average with just a few playthroughs.
I'm trying it on God and Titan mode now, Titan is insane! At least I know where everything is now........

Don't just dodge bullets, dance around them.
I enjoyed the story. I was reading some greek mythology yesterday and the storyline isn't too far off of actual mythology - the whole Gaia vs Zeus thing. It's fun to read.neorichieb1971 wrote: The only thing I Don't like about this game so far is the storyline (which seems patched together and not as strong as the first game) and I think it sucks that you die so many times on trial and error or just an overwhelming amount of respawning enemies.

For some reason I think i'm nearing the end of the game. I only have one power to get now.
I'm walking around some circular dome thats got some dark singing fat biatch in there.
The boss I just beat took at least 15 minutes, was very entertaining once I realized how the hell to kill the biatch's, there are lots of biatches in this game aren't there

Hahahahaha! Just finished it. I actually think I enjoy the story more than the gameplay (which is OK.) These guys still need lessons in level design, but the whole thing still works quite a bit better than the first GOW.
It took me a while to realize how much the titan rage could be abused for ridiculous combos (600+). As far as powering up, I only powered up the blades and the lightning and earthquake spells. I was saving up orbs assuming I'd get to power up the olympus sword, but never got to. Pity.

I'm not sure which is "titan rage", but I use the electricity orb one to boost my combo. In the last section (when you are running around the outside area of the big-fat-bitch as neorichieb1971 put it), I was able to get a combo of 998 or 999 (wanted 1000 so badly).CMoon wrote:Hahahahaha! Stuck on the 4th Challenge of the Titans right now.

Rage of the titans is the R3+R4 thing. The point being you can be stupid with it like do hold R1 (huge cyclone thing) and hold square (whip around infinitely) doing stupid huge combos.
The reward for combos is more red orbs; just like devil may cry.

I finished it on easy this morning. I couldn't get past the perimeter wall of the dome near the end on NORMAL level (stupid witches and medusas).
I don't know if i was tired or what, but I got so frustrated.
Whats weird is that I never got anywhere near powering up all my magic weapons. The blades seem quite weak on max level, especially against those armoured hammer guys.
Going to go another time around.

The Cerburus's were easy compared to the dome area at the end. How the hell did you beat that area if you thought the dogs were hard?
Can people list the order on which they powered up please.
I went straight to MAX on Blades of chaos.
Then powered up Bow and arrow thing.
By that time I was already at 75% completion.
I think that earthquake magic is the most powerful. Next time I am going nails to balls on that one

1) Blades up to level 3
2) lightning up to level 2
3) Blades up to level 5
4) lightning up to level 3
5) earthquake up to level 3
Honestly I think the rest is mostly a waste though I haven't fully explored the other weapons.
The blades may seem weak but they are MUCH more tactical (I do lots of dodging and blocking). Chain lightning is great for combos (meaning more to power up with.) Earthquake is great at the end when you want to do TONS of damage.
Really, I didn't find the 'dome' that hard on the standard difficulty level. Keep building up the titan meter and going ape-shit!

I was tired. The Titan meter is for those moments when I know i'm going to die. I am guessing from what you said it fills up quickly then
I knew I was nearing the end so I was keeping that for a rainy day. I can get past the first couple of sections, its the witches and medusas.
I tell you what, on easy mode your health bar doesn't hardly drop. Its like 25% difficulty compared to standard.
Personally I didn't like the weapons as much this time around.. the bow was nice though. The Hammer is shite, the staff is ok.. But tbh I thought the blades and bow were enough to keep me happy.

Those dogs suckedneorichieb1971 wrote:The Cerburus's were easy compared to the dome area at the end. How the hell did you beat that area if you thought the dogs were hard?

I never died on the outer dome area. I got close a few times, but it wasn't that difficult for me. I kept running back and forth attempting to segregate the enemies between the blue barriers as they would come and go. Then I'd chop em down from there.
I had:
Maxed Blades (dumped everything into blades until I was maxed)
Lightning Level 2
Bow Level 2
That's it. I never spent anything else. I used lightning orbs to cause mass damage. And I used the bow-wave to pop smaller enemies into the air. And the wings as well (hold L1 and hit jump).

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
Yeah, the wing-juggle thing is great since you can then go into all sorts of crazy triangle attacks, throws, etc. For so many enemies with high defense, the wing-juggle move tends to even the playing field.

I don't think i've used that wing juggle before.. must try it.
I'm going a 2nd time round now. I'm at the underwater section where you raise the towers. I think i've only lost about 5 lives and most of those were on bosses.
I wish they put health bars on the bosses like part 1. I hate wacking away at the bastards and not really knowing if what i'm doing is hurting them.
Not giving spoilers but what did you think of the ending? I thought it ended rather suddenly and without too much meaning either. Doesn't anyone else find it funny that you keep dying in the story and coming back to life? And we keep bumping into the key guy from part 1 lol. "not you again"
You know just before the dome area, there is a ceiling crawl in a circular room with 2 chests either side. How do you get the ones on the left? And near the begining of the game a chest resides behind bars in the cave, couldnt figure that one out either.

Ha! I liked the ending!
The problem with putting health bars on the bosses is that they don't really have a particular amount of health, almost all of them have to be killed in a special way. How maddening would it be to see a sliver of health left, but not be able to kill them?

I've beat the game on easy and normal now. I almost beat Zeus on my first go but the cutscene right at the end where you have a QTE got me.
I'm playing a speed run with all my weapons this time, its stupid easy with Medusas gaze powered up. The only thing it doesnt effect is obviously the medusas and those crazy rock creatures.
Since i've gone round 3 times I will tell you the rooms I hated the most -
Skeleton room with spikey ceiling - Easy when you know how though
Phoenix rooms - Just loads of tedious time switches and pushing/pulling/bats and just about everything else to piss you off.
Any room with those guys who generate monsters - Translator scene etc..
Any room with more than 2 medusas - This brings blind luck into the game, its almost impossible to juggle 2 medusas consistantly.. With luck yeah, but not consistantly. It only takes a mid air jump and in .5 seconds your dead.
The cerburus room - I didn't find this very hard, its just a case of prioritizing.
The dome perimeter - Medusa bitches arrgggghhhhh.
A thought.. Since there are numerous time threads on the cogs, do you get a different ending depending on which one you choose? Probably not, must try some different ones next time.

Yeah I'm doing a 'bonus' run and I'm not sure it is all that much fun (most of the cheats really break the game--though what do you expect?) Yeah, infinite magic, infinite titan rage, 10x red orbs (what do I even need them for?)
Still, even the bonus run has a ton of momentum. Think I'm gonna have to play this game in 'titan' mode or whatever next-to-hardest is.

I haven't seen those features in the game. I'm playing normal mode again with everything powered up but I don't get infinite anything.
I think i'm coming up to the Sisters of fate this time around.
My next run will be Titan, but I think its going to be stupid hard. I think i'm burning this game out too fast
I've found 2 Urns. There are 6 altogether.. Wonder where they are
I noticed with Medusas gaze powered up battles are very short lived. Especially if you get the generator guys quickly.
