Playing on a MD + Power Base, game set to 50hz (which I believe to be the way it's intended to play, despite the bars).
TRG. PAUSE set to ON (ain't know when you'll need WC or phone rings )

It wasn't to my knowledge. Any evidence of this?CIT wrote:Well, the game was also released in the US,
Super Aleste is a 1992 game by Compile, and they already were "adjusting" properly to PAL format: what I mean is that PAL Super Aleste is correctly adjusted: music is identic to the Japanese counterpart and the gameplay runs at almost comparable speed. If you try to play that PAL cart on 60hz, you'll get an innatural velocized "70hz" game.CIT wrote:and was developed for NTSC (hence the bars), so I think it's intended for 60Hz.
Now, Power Strike II is a later game and the music just doesn't sound correct to me when I play it 60hz. Therefore I believe the european version to be adjusted to PAL format correctly.
edit: also see this thread about S.Aleste speed issue:

by the way, if a "cart only" is fine for you, I can redirect you to a seller.CIT wrote:But anyway, who wants to sell me this game? I've been looking for it for ages, but somehow it always slips through my hands...
I remember reading once that it was available in the US through mail order from Sega, and that the cover was entirely black & white. I'll try to find more info on that.Turrican wrote:It wasn't to my knowledge. Any evidence of this?
Thanks, but I only buy complete games.by the way, if a "cart only" is fine for you, I can redirect you to a seller.
Oh, you mean that. You're confusing this game with Power Strike 1 / Aleste, which was indeed available in the USA with the bw cover.CIT wrote:I remember reading once that it was available in the US through mail order from Sega, and that the cover was entirely black & white. I had figured so.Thanks, but I only buy complete games.
