I'd love to participate but this month and next month is just too busy for me (and I'm in another tournament anyway). But have some fun! And could you please link to the highscore / checkpoint / whatever threads on this forum to yours? I'd like to keep track of what's going on there and maybe try to beat some of the low tear scores just for fun.

I don't feel like posting a direct link with a rom inside (though I don't think there would be any problem), but in this page (last post by Neverland) you can find all you need for the contest if you are a Windows user:

Sorry NEV, but certain Cave scoring engines leave me cold :? . This one is too regimented for my taste. I sold my Guwange board a long while ago.

Enjoy the contest! I'm sure that Icarus will give you a tough time  .

Press F2 for about 2 seconds during the beginning, I don't know exactly when but you should be able to spot it by yourself. At that point just enable the autofire from the menu ;)

I see a problem with the MIPA-chart. If I understood right, for the Official Score Chart only your best score of all checkpoints is important. What would prevent me to post a score of 5 on the first checkpoint to get a VERY great improvement %age posting my best scores on the next checkpoints? You should have some minimal requirements or something else to prevent that. Maybe only the top ten scores on the current and on the last checkpoint should be taken into account. But that would not make too much sense because I guess the MIPA award is exactly for those players who have not so good results on the normal score chart.

Thanks for this RotateMe!
First of all, there is a thing I'll fix on the rules tonight. There will be a "Best start" prize for low tiers as well. This should prevent players to post low scores on purpose. Anyway, the prize for the MIPA chart is secret. Do your best is way better, trust me. And if you still want to post a low score just to improve it brutally, you can do it once, the next time woulnd't be so easy!
And again: if you plan to post just 100K, then 200K and so one to have a 100% of improvement every time... Ehm, your victory wouln't be so exciting :P
So, this system is not perfect but it still seems good enough, I think.

Good to hear opinions about the rules, keep 'em coming!

I would love the opportunity to take part in something like this. I haven't played the game much myself so I'm probably going to be embarrassed, but whatever works, right? ;)

No problem, and I think you're right, straightening the rules to much sucks and it's always okay to count on the players will to make this tournament as enjoyable as always.

I've checked my settings with my wolf106 and I can't see anything different. I think I'll stop messing about with it until someone solves this mystery :D

Guys, don't give up and try this:
http://www.arcade-extreme.com/contest/g ... 099-vc.zip

This should work, at least I hope ^_^;;
Swap the rom from the other mame to this one and see what happens!

LUN, I'm getting a corrupt zip file on that link - I downloaded a couple just to make sure I got 100% of it.

Is anybody else having problems with wolf99 aside from CHI and myself?

Probably you need to rename it from .zip into .exe. That's a possibility, otherwise tomorrow we'll fix this :P

There is no rush lun, I can still score just as badly on my other version of mame

I should be back up to speed by the first input deadline though - I hate having to re-learn a game I haven't touched in ages :x
