Congrats mate, something i haven't yet done although i have been close a few times. I've not played it seriously for a year and a half now though so i'm sure i've forgotten most of what i knew.

I always had a load of trouble with the boss that reassembles its armour from turds that shoot about and bounce across the screen. He whips you with his tail too. Bastard.

I think i might pick this back up myself and give myself a rest from trying to 2 loop fire shark.
Number of 1cc's : 5
Now playing: Gunbird

Which craft did you use? And did you stay with one weapon (which one? >_>) or change?

I'm playing it at the moment on my VC.

I use the bottom right craft with the red homing laser for the first six stages, then the blue 8-way weapon for the remaining two. I have already met with the last boss, but couldn't beat him due to having messed up my run earlier.

The biggest problems I have with the stage 5 boss, that terribly fast manta ray. I haven't found a sound strategy for him yet. The silvery fish and their bullets always get in the way. Sometimes I try to switch to the blue weapon before the fight, to create some slowdown and make the dodging easier, but the weapon's relatively weak and the battle lasts longer then.

Any help would be appreciated. I think if I can find a way to get past that boss without losing a couple of lives I could nail the 1CC quite easily.

when he fires his laser move to the bottom left corner he moves down but will not go far enough to hit you, and always fire charged shots at the bosses

My same choice when I 1CCed it. The red bouncing rings are extremely helpful later in the game, too!

Congrats.

P.S. Schatten, the red lasers are less valid than they look imho. In all the narrow stages red bouncing offers massive coverage, and mutiple hits. Try this. Shouldn't be a problem for you to get past the first six stages with the blue 8way if you managed to do it with the lasers.

That's one of those Genesis titles that frustrates me after a while, so I end up putting it away for months before I go back to it. Kudos for having the stamina to see it through to the end.

Yay, I just cleared the game.

I sticked with the bottom right ship, though. I tried using the top left one, but didn't feel as comfortable with it. The red rings are only really useful in the narrow passages of the last two stages, but I can get through those with the blue 8-way just as well. Plus the red lasers kill pretty much every single enemy in the first stages, thus helping you to rack up a considerable amount of extends.

I used the red homing laser for the first six stages pretty much exclusively. I only switched to the blue 8-way for the fifth boss, because I wanted the game to slow down. I immediately switched back to the red weapon at the beginning of the sixth stage, though. (With the homing laser, stage 6 becomes a cakewalk.) I kept using red for the beginning of stage 7, but switched to blue as soon I entered the narrow passages. Then I used blue for the rest of the game and only switched back to red for the last two forms of the last boss.

Great game. If only there was a way of fixing the subweapon pod in one position.

P.S.: Does anyone ever use the bottom left ship? It seems like it got the worst selection of weapons of all the ships.

Played this one a few years ago and I remember it as being quite difficult. Good job ;)
