A stupid little discovery [A-Jax]

Post by SFKhoa »

Did the staff somehow have this obsession with the Tom and Jerry cartoons? :3

Considering in AJAX The F-14 TomCat had a pilot/was named Jerry Mouse.

Good eye. I noticed that a while ago looking at one of my copies of the port.

Konami staffers had a lot of strange little obsessions, I think.

A-Jax was ported in three different arcade Jamma PCB vers.

There are three different versions of A-Jax Jamma PCB that Konami Co. Ltd. produced back in 1987:

1.) The original Japanese Bios ver. of A-Jax

2.) The USA Bios ver. of A-Jax

and lastly,

3.) The European version under the "Typhoon" name change.

What was cool about A-Jax/Typhoon was that the arcade operator/owner had the choice of outputting sound/BGM in either "mono" or "stereo" as the PCB itself, has both outputs to select from.

Also, if the arcade operator/owner had either a cocktail-styled arcade cabinet or a full-sized upright arcade cabinet, A-Jax/Typhoon's dip-switch settings allowed for user-customized settings for each respective cabinet.

All three A-Jax/Typhoon PCBs are the same "content-wise & gameplay-wise". It's just the different "main" title screens that tells what region PCB it is.

Where's that earlier shmup.org post about the original Japanese A-Jax opening story leading to the current events of A-Jax situation (the arcade game session)? (I'd like to read it again...) ^_~

Here's a link to relevant A-Jax PCB info...
