A timely article!
I'm pretty damn sure all those typographical problems aren't Brooker's fault, btw!
Try not to be too outraged by the over-simplifications/generalizations - they're usually quite deliberate.

Everyone plays video games. From my grandma to thugs. It's a billion dollar industry, we're quite past the point of it being recognized as a "childish" activity.PaCrappa wrote:More childish than playing videogames?
Why have it if you're not going to show it? That's usually the reason people get tatoos of questionable nature in questionable places. And of course everyone else doesn't want to look, that's the point.Why do you look at old guys' butts? There's plenty of chick porn out there. In 34 years I've never seen my grandpa's and if he was showing it off, I wouldn't look.
He does have a dopeass navy anchor on his arm from the WWII though. I've always liked it, wrinkly or no.

Unless I see something absolutely jaw-dropping and completely original then I'm not gonna bother getting a tat. Those videogame ones are pretty cool, but who would tatoo the Master Chief on their arm? Or Zelda across their back? The Fenrir one is pretty badass though I must admit.
"You are the Hero of Tomorrow!"
I see your point, but I hope to have had enough fun in my life to look pretty terrible by the time I'm old anyway..Pixel_Outlaw wrote:Hmm I don't know, I think video game tattoos seem childish, Just my two cents. Nothing like grandpa with a sagging link on his buttocks.
And a few tattoos will just remind me that I was young once...
Thus, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands all down my right arm. I've never regret one of my tattoos in ten years so far, but I just see my body as something to have fun with rather than something to preserve... a nice advantage of not being attractive!
EDIT: What a dick! It's my left arm!
That's why you decide, then wait ten years and see if you still like it. I'm getting my first one on saturday and it's an idea I've had for atleast 8 years now.Neon wrote:My desire to get a tattoo is tempered by the fact that everything I like now will probably seem stupid to me in 10 years
Feedback will set you free.

That's fair and good. When you've had the same headpounding idea for 8 years, it's probably going to be good for you.Acid King wrote:That's why you decide, then wait ten years and see if you still like it. For me it was the same. I've had that nail in my brain since I played FFVI (1994)... had to wait 4 long years before slinging down to my local tattoo artist (after months of researches and tests from shop to shop) with a pixely image of the summon AND a nice pencil rendition of it on a big piece of paper

Go for it.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...
Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?
Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?
Exactly the way to do it... God I've had some bad ideas that have left my brain after a year!Acid King wrote:That's why you decide, then wait ten years and see if you still like it. Yes, but not as an insult to Gay people, just because people have become so used to using it as an expression, it's once again adopted a new meaning.Neon wrote:people still use gay as an insult?
Gay = was 'happy.'
Then = 'homosexual'
Now = 'Crap'

If I were going to choose a Raizing medal it would be Batrider's Max medal. It's more detailed and the artist can embellish on it a bit and it would still retain it's "meaning" (For lack of a better word).captain ahar wrote:i've been thinking about getting the max chain medal from battle garegga for a few years now.
for the uninitiated.
i want to attach an event, like me clearing battle garegga. wonder if that will ever happen?
I think the a large problem with tattoos from video game is that people want that exact picture one them and that may very well a.) severely clash with the artist's particular style of drawing or b.) that it is uninteresting or even offensive to the artist that the client doesn't want them for their abilities, but just because they can sling some ink (is that even real tattoo lingo?). A smart man would look around and get a series of mock-ups and prices (like my buddy who got a kick ass Eve with a snake wrapped around her), but then again depending on where you live you may not be able to find more than one place.

thing is, great game that batrider is, i still don't think it compares to battle Garegga.
as far as the tat is concerned, i haven't even gotten around to mocking up the design at all so i can begin to shop it around. i do have a few friends who are pretty well connected in the tattoo scene around here (west MI), and they've offered to help me look around to find the right shop.
thanks
