But one of those adult mahjong games sounds awfully tempting.
Aren't you supposed to "shoot" "while" playing" for a shooter? ;)

Shienryu
I know it sounds strange after all bargain market saturation of this game, but the arcade version really rocks.
I love it.

 On those lonely, typhoon nights, there'll be plenty of shooting all right.

Ketsui. I've never played it, but I want to real bad, and it seems pretty damn fun.
Approach your target and attack! Your mission starts now! ARE YOU READY!?

Either G. Darius or Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus (PSX).

G. Darius, because of the different level routes and that crazy laser burst that takes up 85% of the screen when fully powered. Pure eye candy.

Salamander for it's side-scrolling / horizontal combination. Not many games have that feature you know!

Still, I can't decide :?. Both are GREAT shmups. If I could, I would exchange a finger, or toe, to have both stranded with me.

Much as I hate to jump on the bandwagon, I would have to agree with Mars Matrix. It is hands-down the best shmup I have ever played.

Storm of Progear. The manic play in a horizontal field, wonderful Jun character designs and deep jewel scoring system make this an easy choice for me.

DoDonPachi. I think if I had a few years to work on it with no distractions except gathering wood and eating I might actually be able to chain level 2 all the way.
Blow up self to involve enemies.
