Galaxy Angel ships look quite familiar...

Post by Zeether »

Has anyone here seen the anime Galaxy Angel? Ever noticed Vanilla's Angel Frame, Harvester?

Tell me that it does NOT look like the R-Gray 01 from Raystorm or the Endymion 02 from Einhander. GA was made a couple years after these games were made, so I think the creators were inspired by them to make the designs![/img]

I just thought the new trend in anime ships was to have lots of pointy things sticking out.

And back in the 80's it was to have lots of glowing orb/window thingies.

...like that one Ikaruga ship. It even has some sword sticking out, if I recall that right. I like those looks, however. Way better than flying people, or, even worse, witches riding brooms.

What really rules are children riding vacuum cleaners.

What game is that? Is it a shmup? Hoover based destruction, my interest is piqued.

What about nude men in homosexual innuendo-based shmups?

That's Kyuiin (the title is presumably derived from "vacuuming"), a very very hard to find shmup for PS1. Somewhat 16-bit-looking side scroller in which you play a boy or a girl (player two, his sister) flying on a vacuum cleaner (called akane-chan) through fairy tale inspired levels. You can suck in certain enemies and bulltes to fill your bomb-gage. The first 2-3 stages are very easy, then the difficulty goes up. Not a bad game, but probably not everyone's cup of tea.

What's even weirder is that Mint's frame looks like a Rounder from Senko no Ronde...

I love how anime ships don't need to look functional just cool.

As much as everyone seems to hate R Type Final I do applaud the whole gallery.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Why doesn't that first ship have a big sword in the other hand.

I like flying people especial witches riding on brooms. :o

Kiki's fans anyone?

P.S. - We, black cats, have a long tradition of flying with witches on their brooms. :o That was before we start creating out own flying robots to rid on.

Yeah, i can see it. Maybe photobucket went down temporarily. I got tired of it doing that so i started using village photos.

That whole 'looking functional' thing is something that has always irked me about my art. Everything has to appear like it really would work when i'm doing designs. Drives me nuts.

If that wasn't enough to convince you, look at this pic.
Do those lasers look familiar?

And take a look at the other frames. Notice any similarities?

I personally really like the 'look functional' thing for mechs... That's why I prefer Front Mission, Armored Core, Valken, Gasaraki mechs over things like Gundam. I don't know.. Gundam just somehow doesn't seem functional to me.

Now there's a game telling you it sucks right on the cover.

Apparently Milfeulle's ship has a DoDonPachi-esque laser, complete with the aura around the ship. And the Strike Burst resembles one of the bombs in Battle Garegga. Maybe some Taito/Raizing members are working at BROCCOLI? :D
