Fucking hell. I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday looking for it and they were sold out. I want to read the Contra article specifically.

This is around the time my local store would seem to get new issues though. I don't know, maybe I did check too early. What was the last issue you guys got before #35? Was it the Street Fighter issue?

No that was 33. 34 had a spaceship on the front and can be picked up from the website if you can't find a copy

I really want to subscribe to both Retro Gamer and GamesTM, but it's so expensive to do so here in the US. I always buy an issue that has 2+ articles I think I'd want to read, but obviously that isn't every issue.

The problem with this is that it's almost no cheaper to subscribe than it would be to buy every issue direct from the store. But with the latter option I can pick and choose which issues I spend my money on. Most magazines give up to a 66% discount when you subscribe, but not these. I suppose it's because I have to cover the importing cost...?

I agree completely on all terms you touched on. It would cost $185 Canadian to subscribe for 12 issues, that's huge amount compared to what I'm used to paying for mags. Granted, it's import, but still I wish there was a cheaper subscription offer for overseas readers. If that was the case, I might have started buying them sooner than expected.

I wonder if it would benefit them to open a Western office. I realize the quality of the magazines, in both material and content, is higher than most. And I believe magazine prices are higher in Europe than in North America. But a Western distribution center could allow them to charge less in the West and therefore reach a much wider audience, which would in turn bring in more income... A $12 price tag is rather intimidating when all the competition are charging $5-6.
