It's an "aight" game, but Raizing should have done it in Tate. You unfortunately get bupkis for planes to choose from - just a P38 (1P) or a Japanese Zero (2P) and you're stuck with the same weapon. Neither one of the two plays different.
I don't recall the planes having hitboxes in this one- I could swear that 19XX does have hitboxes though.
Giga Wing works in Yoko, but 1944 comes up a little short. Raizing's team should have been forced to play through 19XX a few times before going to work.

Kinect? KIN NOT.

I owned the PCB a few years ago, I liked it quite a bit but it's definitely not as good as XX. I think I'll buy it again next year. Shame it never got a DC port (and weird considering Capcom OWNS the 194X serie's name, even though Raizing devved it).

My thoughts exactly. Like the visuals, love the fact that it is long, but approaching each boss as they get tougher each level, with your little pea shooter....bleccchhh. Cmon Raizing!!! Even something close to Bakraid in yoko would be ten times better.dave4shmups wrote:I have no problem with the fact that your P-38 only has one weapon, but the fact that that weapon, however charged up, is totally inadequate to deal with larger enemies, including bosses, really makes me stay away from 1944.

Exactly. 19XX rocks, and I mean to say Raizing should've been given some lessons on how to make a proper game in the series. 19XX does it all correctly.Trevor spencer wrote:here here 19XX is class i love itgameoverDude wrote: Raizing's team should have been forced to play through 19XX a few times before going to work.

I forgot about Ghost Pilots. Man, what a boring tedious game. Pretty hard, and completely unrewarding in anyway.dpful wrote:perhaps it's the ultimate version of Ghost Pilots? That's what I thought it kind of felt like (just played it a little). Like running through a forest realy fast and both dodging and hitting trees but you can't slow down.
Yeah, whenever I buy the PCB again I'm going to make sure to figure out how to balance the charge function with bullet dodging. The game is basically Giga Wing meets 194X with no bullet clouds and old school fast moving single bullets that make a beeline for your plane. And yes the length was awesome, at least 15 stages IIRC. Man, now I miss the game.Cthulhu wrote:I'll toss in my two cents and say that I actually like 1944. It's not as good as 19XX, but it's still a fun game. High difficulty and long length make it a fun game to sit down with when you have a lot of patience and a high tolerance for punishment.
Yes it has 15 stages. And then the game goes to loop 2 which is highly unplayable...Dylan1CC wrote:Yeah, whenever I buy the PCB again I'm going to make sure to figure out how to balance the charge function with bullet dodging.
