Perfect Cherry Blossom (Free Curtain Shooter Shmup!)

Post by HeLGeN-X »

I searched the forum before posting this, but didn't find any topic about this game, but it's a free Dojin curtain shooting game I found reading through Wiki's definition of "Shumps." (Not that I didn't already know, I been playing video games since I was 4 years old, I'm 23 now.)

I stumbled upon this strange game, which somehow doesn't have much sound FX and like no music (but I think the english patch may have been the problem,) but it's a pretty decent game for a free game! It has some interesting bullet patterns for a Dojin game, and I hear the creator is just a one man thing, so check it out... It's free!

The "free" thing you DLed is actually a demo for the full game: you can buy this, along with ZUN's other stuff and other people's homemade PC games, at sites like Paletweb and Himeya. I suggest you do so. :)

If you're looking for more demos or free shmups, I suggest you visit Shoot the Core, maintained by this forum's own postman, and check out the PC Database. :)

Thanks! Will do that, but I already have so many Shumps as it is, I think any more will rattle my brain... Fuck it, I don't mind LOL, the more the merrier!

I've got a 1.5 ghz computer and the framerate is never consistent for me... maybe a new graphics card would help

So if I purchase one of these games will it be on a CD or via a download link?

I didn't realize you could buy actual copies of these games. It does look like you get CDs as in the requirements it says you need a CD-ROM.

Not that these are expensive or anything, but do you guys think they will release a compilation of them or anything? Or maybe a console release compilation? I would definitly buy it.

I've got a year or two headstart on you youngsters! I started when I was 3, and turn 24 next month -_^

How powerful is your laptop? I don't remember what the minimum requirements are, but my Pentium III 933 runs it at 60fps for the entirety of the game. Though, I haven't played Lunatic mode, so I dunno if the extra bullet sprays will hurt performance or not, I HIGHLY doubt it though.

Very cool game. The demo the TC downloaded had no music? o_O You MUST get the full version then, the music is one of the biggest draws to this game for me.

Offhand I haven't heard anything like that, though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it. If it ever does happen, it'd probably be announced (in English) first at shrinemaiden.com.

Yeah, seems like you don't really need a powerful system to play this game.

It takes a special kind of madness to spend $2600 to play a $15 game. Do not do this.

The newest one, Shoot The Bullet, was only released on CD on some convention - last time I checked there wasn´t even a trial avaiable. ZUNs games are all the rage in Japan. His games are the total opposite of ABA Soft games - ABA soft is abstract, simplistic, while ZUNs games are oozing detail, with lots of kitschy piano melodies and very, very complicated scoring systems.

I was under the impression that in Imperishable Night things are a bit more complex than that - could be wrong though.

yeah, ZUN's pretty good, but I burned out from his stuff fast, save for Immaterial and Missing Power and Shoot the Bullet since those two were quite original compared to the rest of his games.

You should probably change the thread title it's misleading to newcomers.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

That kicks ass.

Its not so crazy really, hear about that old guy from england who built his own small plane? When he'd finally built it and flown it he came to realise that he doesnt really like flying that much. He enjoyed building it more!

What is the 2P control for? IIRC ZUN's play solo.
