I play some Chaos Field, then Shiki games are easier

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

....So I have spent a good hour trying t get better at Chaos Field and I took a break to play some CoS and Mobile Light Force 2. They both seem MUCH easier after playing Chaos Field.

Any good games to train for other games?
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I find playing a Psikyo game first improves my performance on most Cave games. I think the relative bullet speed and number of aimed bullets are the main reasons.

Psyvariar 2 and Castle Shikigami 2 have kind of a direct relationship for me. I kind of get used to buzzing and it really helps in Shikigami 2.

I often find that (Toaplan shmup here) is easier after playing Recca. Could it be relative speeds or something?

Playing DoDonPachi made everything else at the time much easier.. same could be said about DOJ and anything new, so playing hard games can help a huge amount.

You want something that helps you with bullet training, try playing a few rounds of Change Air Blade. Not only can you "control" the bullet patterns with another player, but you can also learn how to pick up powerups better, IMO.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I think the most important thing is to play a variety of different shmups. Don't overload yourself at once though. I findn that it's always good for me to be playing 1 game mainly, and then one or two others that feel different on the side. I go to the side games when I feel lke I'm not improving in the main game, or when I'm just frustrated.

Clearing your mind and getting a different perspective (playing a different game) just in general i think will help your skill in any game.
