Under Defeat/Normal or Reverse control

Post by lawnspic »

Just wanted to see what most people are using. Im almost good with both modes, and realized each has its advantages. In reverse it seems very good if your the kind of player that like to counter fire (fade away gunning), its kind of like a passive aggressive mode. In normal its more balls to the wall aggressive shooting. I do find in normal im a little better at dodging, but i can target a little easier in reverse. I almost wish you could change it on the fly instead of at the continue screen. Im still undecided. What are the pros using? or is it just personal preference.

Probably personal preferance. Reverse felt more natural to me, so that's what I stuck with.

Definitely reverse. For me it feels more natural when I do a sweeping motion and firing.

Yea, reverse felt more natural to me, maybe because I like inverted controls..

I usually prefer inverted controls too, but Normal seems to be what clicked for me on UD.

Yeah, i like them to, and im also a southpaw(first person) but dont know yet which one i want to use all the time. I will tell you that if your using reverse there is a slight disadvantage if you dodging left or right and your ship is sideways, it makes it a little easier to get hit somestimes. But then again maybe its just me.

Normal. I started out with reverse and initially it felt more comfortable, but normal mode lets you be more aggressive and point-blank the enemies more easily, which is important for getting 100% destruction.

Looking at the high score board, it looks fairly mixed, so personal preference probably takes it, but I will say that switching to normal despite my inclination towards reverse improved my scores.

Normal. It's a bit trickier to keep fire on a fixed enemy when using reverse.

reverse felt moe intuitive for me... but as mentioned, it's personal preference..

though many say that it's better to get used to Normal if you're aiming for score..

I think you might have just ticked the nail on the head here. Perhaps for beginners the reverse is best to dodge unexpected bullets It might be that once you know where everything is coming from and you're not positioning yourself to the bottom of the screen, the normal is best. I'm in the first category. Also the reverse is the same as the copter in SWS. I wished that they would incorporate the same controls and they did. Still very happy about that :D

Reverse. Started with Normal but always found myself getting stuck in corners. As mentioned, with Reverse you can fire while on the run.

Reverse for me. The normal controls make me feel like I'm swinging a weight around, almost...

I play reversed while upside down...
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

It depends on how I'm going to play. I find reverse better if I stick to the lower half of the screen, but normal is better if I hang out in the upper half and try to kill things before they start firing.

Reverse.

And I got a good reason:

In this way, you could shoot at the enemy while moving away from / avoiding their attacks.

But according to my unofficial statistic, players using Normal control score better.

I always use reverse, I like moving away from an enemy but that I'm still able to arc off and hit it.

Reverse mode is more comfortable for me than Normal mode. When I master Reverse mode and a 1CC is near or done, I will try to play with Normal mode.It will be a good challenge to *re-discover* the game.

Normal rules. I started with Reverse, left the game alone for a while, then came back and needed to use Normal.

I feel more comfortable with reverse, but I also suck balls at UD so it doesn't mean much.

Normal seems more "aim and shoot" to me, combined with "charge and blast" is right on the money.

Reverse seems more "got to get away" to me.

After exploding several times because instinctively I moved away in the opposite direction, I understood that reverse was more for me.
So, reverse.

Normal. It awards aggresive play.
