Four shmups featured in March 2007 Hardcore Gamer Magazine

Post by xghostsniperx »

I was thinking of not posting this, but to have FOUR shmups with fairly lengthy write-ups in one U.S magazine is pretty rare. Castle Shikigami 2, Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princesse, Soldier Blade, and Super Star Soldier were all featured in the March 2007

Shikigami 2 is featured in the "Warez" section of the magazine. Basically, the article first talks about the dirt cheap price of the game, mentioning how it can be found in essentially any Gamestop bargain bin. The author outlines the gameplay aspects and of course, the ridiculous translation. While the author definitely asserts that he enjoyed the game, it gets a bit sickening to see comments about the insane translation taking up half the article when the game itself is just so good.

Also, in the "Japan" section of the mag, Twinkle Star Sprites: La Petite Princess has a short write-up. Again, the article outlines the basic gameplay mechanics. The reviewer praised the game for the most part, giving it a 4 out of 5.

The "Downloads" section of the magazine contained a double article on Super Star Solider and Soldier Blade. It's a very short review, but both get a 4 out of 5, only knocked for sometimes ridiculous difficulty.

Again, many of you may have gotten their copies of the mag already, I just wanted to share with the rest of the shmuppers here that four shmups were featured in one U.S. mag. Pretty rare just to have one article on a shmup in a U.S mag.

Let me guess, that review was written by Ashura, right?
