Why not pick up Homura? The music is top tier, the boss fights/deaths are insanely cool, and the sword slash game mechanic is ingenious. All of this goodness and yet this game is rarely mentioned around here. I just went to youtube in hopes of finding some vids of the game to show it off but none were available
There have been a handful of "Homura is good, play it!" threads, but why not one more, I'll toss up another recommendation so long as I'm here. I also should mention that it got a "best" release not long ago, so you can get it for around 30 bucks new: go forth, and, er, purchase! Or something.
Saw some footage of it on Cinematech the other day, looks a little notch about Shiki 1 in terms of graphics...
I'm interested nonetheless. When was it released?
Wow, thanks for the recommendation and the video! I'm gonna get this game as soon as possible, the game mechanics look great and the bullet patterns fair.
A totally underappreciated game. The high score thread needs some activity. Interesting thing about this game is that it actually made me appreciate and rebuy Giga Wing, a game I bought and sold twice before actually enjoying. The way the slash/reflect is implemented and balanced is similar in both games. You have to time your reflections to catch the big bullet sprays much like Giga Wing and push your score up, in addition to placing your melee slash in the right spots to maximize your multiplier and make the reflections more lucrative.

Eugenics: you know it's right!
Hmmmmm no luck in buying this game, there is a PAL version, isn't there? But neither german ebay nor german amazon or similiar seem to have it. So anyone selling the PAL version of this game if there is one? If not NTSC would do as well. Pleease!
EDIT: Just saw that Amazon.cu.uk still has 2 in stock. Is there a possibility to order it if you live in germany? If not is someone willing to buy it and sell it to me for some extra money? Would be very kind! (Or does the PAL version suck to much? I mean why does it still have 2 in stock for such a reasonable price?)

Monk 0 Nuggets wrote:not to hijack, but how is Gigawing Generations for PS2 in comparison to the Dreamcast originals?
Giga Wing Generations is not a collection. It is Giga Wing 3. It sits somewhere between part one and part two in terms in execution (leaning more towards the first game). If you like the series in general, check it out.

Good game, but unfortunately it got a poor port, which lacks tate mode and runs at a reduced frame rate. Still playable though, and also got a "Best" release, so you can get it relatively cheap.
Wow, that looks much better than I thought it would be! Is there anything translated in the PAL version that I'd be missing out on if I got the Japanese version? Like story sequences or anything?

Just ordered this and Mushikjasdvkjbhama (CAVE...Taito...whatever) the other day.
You mean Mushihime-sama? Be sure to check out
Dodonpaschuiasblbabama, Espblaguwangade and Ibarhaguipana.
From Konami or EA games or whatever.
Seriously, welcome to the forums, but bare in mind some people could get a weird impression of you if you don´t even know how to spell a game right that you just ordered! Have a good time and lots and lots of new shmups you are going to discover.

If you don't have the original, definitely: it plays almost the same, and is especially great for multiplayer. If you do already have the original...I guess it just depends on how much you like it. Off to the side, I'd say Mushi is well worth 30 or so bucks, at least if you don't plan on buying the arcade version.
I enjoyed that one (Homura) for a few months after I got it, but I kinda slacked off after that for a while. I've recently tried it again, and it really does have a nice mechanic going for it. Fun.

Iiiiii'm not one of them.
It was funny.
please don't milk it...
Thanks for the welcome, and I'll keep the friendly advice in mind, guys. I considered that it might come off odd, but...I went with it.
Anyhow, I'm very much looking forward to Mushihimesama. Homura was kinda iffy for me until I saw these video's, and now I'm very stoked about it. I really look forward to playing around with the system, especially the Tate maneuver (as opposed to the screen orientation).

When you TATE your TV be sure to follow these steps:
1. Turn off and unplug your TV for a good 10 minutes.
2. Flip
3. Plug back in
Follow the same steps when you are turning it back to insure that your TV doesn't get messed up
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.
