Arcade hardware and console hardware relationships
Correct me if im wrong, but as far as i know there are only 3 consoles which have a relaionship with arcade hardware
1 Psx-Namco System 11 (Tekken, Soulblade ect.)
2 Saturn-STV Titan (RS, Baku ect.)
3 Dreamcast-NAOMI (Ikaruga, Radirgy ect.)
Are there any other consoles that share arcade hardware?

The M2 is a bit of a moot point since it isn't finalized in any way and, if finished, wouldn't have been related to the 3DO REAL at all. That said, the 3DO did have some sort of arcade version (likely a modified 3DO system) used by American Laser Games, which as far as I know, only had 1 game in common with the 3DO: Way of the Warrior.

So the Nintendo Super System doesn't cut it, then? I guess it didn't take coins, though.theevilfunkster wrote:*snip*
Also, there should be way more PC-based hardware.
Splitting hairs - it was finished, or else the arcade system wouldn't have appeared. As a home console, yeah, but that was really more about economics. The prototype bits lying around and the actuality of the arcade machine seem to indicate that the system wouldn't have needed much R&D to ship (although it would've been surpassed by the PS2 in no time flat).Ganelon wrote:The M2 is a bit of a moot point since it isn't finalized in any way and, if finished

Yeah, I was referring to the equivalent M2 system, which exists only in a CD drive and shell at the most.Ed Oscuro wrote: Splitting hairs - it was finished, or else the arcade system wouldn't have appeared. As a home console, yeah, but that was really more about economics.
What I've wondered (and was too lazy to search) was whether or not the intended M2 arcade system was really completed before Konami took over released a couple of games on it. And for that matter, is either the existing or planned (if they differed) M2 actually based on the original 3DO architecture? I didn't think it was, but I could certainly be wrong.

I've never read anything that suggests that other folks were working on an arcade system. Konami probably adapted the M2 board to their application. I don't know what the business deals between companies adapting console hardware to arcade spec usually was like, but I think it's possible to make a guess. The big part of development - the custom ICs and whatnot - was already finished; subtleties like how much RAM and whatever could have been changed for a home console release.Ganelon wrote:What I've wondered (and was too lazy to search) was whether or not the intended M2 arcade system was really completed before Konami took over released a couple of games on it. Incidentally, there are also other M2 systems about; I've got one in the Panasonic FZ-35 media player (haven't taken it out of its shipping crate since I have no media to use with it).
