PCE Vertical Shmups in TATE

Post by sideshow »

I cant recall if any PCE vertical shmups had options to do TATE mode. Does anybody have a list of games that support this or did any of them have the option to do so? So far I believe Dragon Spirit can do arcade mode but you have to reset the game 57 times to enable it. Soldier Blade has a arcade mode in the setup menu. Both these games merely compress the screen which is not true TATE.

There are NO PCE games that do TATE, because any PCE shmup that's a conversion is a re-programming and re-drawing of the original, not just a simple port.

I don't believe that any 16-bit (yeah I know PCE/TG was "8"bit) shootie offered tate. I think the first may have been Raiden Project?

Nexzr has an option like that, too. But no true tate.

I figured there wasnt any true TATE options. I found a few games with a "Arcade Mode" but its kinda lame just widening the screen horizontal. Thanks for the info peeps.

FM Towns port of Flying Shark could've used tate, but doesn't have it.

Oh wow, yeah, imagine how much better old ports would have looked if they were just designed that way =) 'Course, they'd sell about 2 copies.

We can dream, can't we?
