aventus - 68.200 - 2

I play it on the Saturn (Capcom Generation 4) but I don't think that there's any difference to the arcade game, is it?

Quite a cool game by the way, but pretty damn hard.

Cutter Boomerang kicked my ass. this is prob the best ive ever done on one credit so far though. i got this score 2 days ago. suprised myself actually. i was playing on the Capcom Classics Collection.

i should break out the old NES too. i used to love that version of the game, even after having sunk a bunch of money into the coin-op. did you use the NES Advantage to get your score crithit?

That score was off an emulated version, as finding my actual copy and hooking up the NES is a pain...

(arcade-ps2)

5th boss is an ass. Is there any way to get him to just throw the dynamite? I passed it when he was only doing that, but the lighting shots always get me.

Stage 6 q: is there a bonus for killing the red horse rider in the middle of the stage? Is that just the boss making a preliminary appearance (haven't made it that far... using continues)?

shit. there goes my first place spot, never to be attained again! :x (not that it was that great a score!)

i was having a great run the other day, 1 life up until the boss on lv3. then i lost every single life one after another. it was crushing.

time for more practice.

These bosses are pretty brutal, especially when they're getting 5+ lifebars. I think keeping the small guys cleared is key.

They saved the colors for level 3. The bridges are a nice touch, though I lost two lives dealing with them.

How the heck did I miss this thread?!?!
Oh, you're going to be soooooo sorry for creating a hiscore list for this.
Expect my first slashing of the hiscore tonight.

Yes it's Wolf Chief Shotgun making a cameo (he does it twice before deciding to enter the fight).
There are graphics drawn for when he is falling off the horse. But there doesn't seem to be a way to take him down. Believe me, I've tried litterary everything a few thousand times.

UPDATE 1:
Serves me right for being cocky. all I got was a losy run and an aching thumb. Will need to get a real arcade joy if I'm going to continue this.
Will do better tomorrow. :?

I know my CCC 1 score has to be higher, just too lazy to check at the moment.

First time making it to the third round; in fact this is the first day I've really tried playing it (with a proper controller instead of keyboard), and the first day I've beaten the first boss more than once or twice. :D

Daigoro/231,400/stage 2/NES

meh. the NES version is broken (but still fun).

i could have played forever, but fatigue set in pretty quickly trying to use the NES Advantage joystick. that thing is murder on the hands and wrists.

the problem with the NES version is that if you avoid picking up the wanted posters, you never get to the boss and just keep redoing the whole level. not good. :(

my first run through i was using Turbo Fire cranked all the way up on the Advantage and i found the bosses pretty much right away. i quickly realized that turbo was WAY to much and makes the game extremely simple. it would probably make this game very easy to 1cc.

so i turned down turbo all the way so it more resembled normal auto-fire. this still makes things a lot easier (in the NES version anyways), but there is not much other option. it was painfull enough playing like this, i cant imagine trying to play it without autofire (NES version only. i dont use autofire on the ARC version).

anyways to make a long story longer, i couldnt even find the Wanted Posters on my second run and wound up going throguh levels 1 and 2 about 10 times a piece looking for them. (i forgot about the invisible barrels. not sure if this is glitch, or the way the game was programmed, but this version has allways been like that.)

i guess you could milk this game forever. too bad, cause its fun, but painfull.

Small improvement. Wasted all of my lives just getting familiar with stage 3, which really kicked my ass.

Reliably making it to "Pig Joe," just need to sharpen up my evasion of his mouth blasts. Got him down to one bar on my last attempt.

It's not 100% reliable, but I find keeping an eye on his hopping to help. He seems to fire the quick blasts upon landing, after every second hop. While doing this, I sweep the area with angled shots to ensure I won't run into an enemy or bullet when dodging the blast.

Definitely a nailbiter... who'd have thought a one-bullet pattern could feel so lethal?
