Has anyone actually beaten Xevious?

Post by tehkao »

The original, I mean....I know this game has been around forever but for some reason I never got past that big mother ship...and the game isn't that interesting in the first place(compared to modern games) so I never bothered to try to get good at it...so I'm just wondering...has anyone actually beaten Xevious? Does it actually END? Or does it keep on looping forever? How many "stages" does it have?

Xevious never ends, the "stages" do repeat after a while. Most top players try to race to see who is the fastest to get 9,999,990. This takes around 6 hours to do.

You need to face the mothership four times before the stages start to repeat themselves. Obviously, anyone that can get 10 million points will be able to this many times. Personally, I've never actually known anyone who could get the stages to loop even once. I can often get past the second mothership, but I don't think I've ever beaten the third; I end up with maybe a couple hundred thousand points. Oh, and
the game isn't that interesting in the first place(compared to modern games)
Xevious is great stuff, :P don't knock it.

Are you certain that it has NO ending? I mean, last Sunday I heard from a friend from church that there was some guy who got a perfect score on Pac Man a few years ago. Evidently Pac Man ends at around 250 screens or so.

*shrugs* I just figure that if Pac Man has an ending, ANY game's got to!

Personally, I wonder if anyone's ever 1cc'd either 1942 or 1943!

Pacman doesn't really end, it just crashes on the 255th stage, and I don't think I've got that far on Xevious really.

Does Xevious with the word "Super" in it end? My guess is no since it's basically just a slightly altered version of Xevious, but I thought I would ask anyway just to be sure.

"Pacman doesn't really end, it just crashes on the 255th stage" Wow, didn't know that! Although that friend of mine did mention that around 250 it starts getting really blurry.

255, eh? New goal in life!

I would also like to know if Super Xevious ends, although I doubt it-it was just released to be a harder Xevious. I'll bet that Xevious Arrangement on the PS1 Xevious 3D/G+ disc does have an end, though-all of Namco's other arrangements do.

I've gotten past the 3rd mothership but the enemies get to be very unbeatable. They spew clouds of homing bullets that your poor, slow little ship can not have any hope against.

The backgrounds get reused constantly (just ordered differently with an occasional new one throw in) however I've never been able to reach a point where they don't keep introducing new enemies.
