After hooking up my PS2 last night for a play on Bully (which i had just purchased) i decided to pop in Gunbird Collection for a quick play and after a few hours of having my arse handed to me by GB2 i feel all fresh and devoted again. The break has done nothing for my Gunbird game though.. I couldn't even get to stage 5 last night

The end of a sabatical
Had a beautiful moment last night. I've recently not played any shmups, and not even had the urge to boot one up for a quick blast. I even considered putting them down for good at one point but pushed such blasphemy to the back of my mind.

Maybe i'll have another crack today, but it shouldn't take that much to duplicate my 1cc should it?

I took a break from shmups lately too. I'd play the random shmup here and there, but I wasn't practicing anything. Then I picked up Strikers 1945 II sometime last week, and I instantly found it addictive. I've never played it seriously before-- just a few hours here and there-- but I'm loving it. I can get to 1-5 regularly at this point, but with some dedication I should be able to get to 1-6. I doubt I'll get further; I never got past 1-6 in Strikers I.

I haven't played shmups in months, just a few Genny games but nothing more.
I did just buy Salamander Deluxe Pack, which was actually the reason I started importing, and now I'm finally getting to play it. This may get me back into the mood, because I also really want to get Last Resort as well.
At this point, I'm probably not going to care about going for the one-credit.

Very good. It's like GTA without the appalling lock on (a reasonable one instead), less vehicles (but a lawn mower) and far more slapstick.GateofThunderforceIII wrote:Welcome back!!! But real quick, how is Bully?
It's like watching the character interaction of the GTA characters but as 15 year olds in school. Very Saved By The Bell.
There are a lot of ingame stats keeping track of stuff if that floats your boat and just wondering around is a lot of fun.
The missions so far seem... ok. Nothing breathtaking but i'm sure that as the story takes off i'll either become engrossed or fuck it off for some wondering and havoc causing.
The fact that the prefects hunt you comedy MGS style is fun too. You can hide in bins and follow their movements with the right thumb stick

yup, Between trying to get a perfect clear on FFXII and writing a 15+ page paper for school (on Nagasawa Keiji's Barefoot Gen and other artistic representations of the Atomic attack on Hiroshima) I have had to take a sabadical on Shmups.
Just for a quick blast I popped in Taito memories and played this sidescrolling shooter called Exzisus-or something or rather, 1987 where your a spaceman, simillar to Capcom's Section Z, who can transform into a ship with powerups. Cool game with an ass-load of different powerups. Anyone else played this game much? It's not perfect but the power ups are cool, voltron-like animal buddies. First time I played it in awhile I got a killer score- detroyed that mechanical Yetti like nothin'

It's pretty decent...a rare gem even considering I had never seen or played it before. I'll have to check my best score next time I boot up the original Xbox.
