Makes me wonder where mine came from. I bought it used from Fujita, but the high scores were low enough for me to beat relatively easily. Maybe a couple hundred mil in Maniac. I wonder if it was fixed, then immediately sold.

Apologies for not making it more clear and leading astray, I thought it was a small chance (btw twe, you purchased this board from starpine? I believe I saw this one). Note the R sticker means serviced, not necessarily bugs fixed. Could have been broken and they just serviced/repaired this point. So, indeed it would seem impossible to tell for certain whether a Mushi board is bugs fixed or not just from looking at the PCB (as onamasa/Japan hobbyists have stated). Then again, there is rtw's report of high serial number fixed. The owner/seller should be able to tell from a hands on test, or official documentation.
If you guys want to do a group send to Cave, let me know. With enough interest I will try to work something out.

Wow, maybe there is hope for a score reset! Were all your setting on default before this happened? Can you go into the test menu now and see if the date/time also got reset? Do you remember what was the last game you played (Original/Maniac/Ultra)? Also quite strange that without Ultra you can't save any score (Original or Maniac)... What are the defaults for the all time tables?Dennis wrote:Something weird happened today. Yesterday I was playing on ultra just for fun (ultra was enabled when I bought it). Today ultra was disabled and all scores were reset. It also doesn't save my highscores anymore when powerdown.
How did you verify you board does not have the reset bug (I guess done before the score reset happened)?
Sorry for all the Q's.
All setting default, only setting I changed was freeplay.Dave_K. wrote:Wow, maybe there is hope for a score reset! Were all your setting on default before this happened? The date is now 2004/11/12 16:03:20
Last game I played was Maniac, I was credit feeding and then shut down my cab in the middle of a game.
What do you mean by time tables? The ranking chart?
Code: Select all
original
score name stage
1. 3000000 KTN 3
2. 2500000 NMR 2
3. 2000000 TNK 2
4. 1500000 WKB 1
5. 1000000 ICM 1
maniac
score name stage
1. 10000000 YUI 3
2. 8000000 WHI 2
3. 6000000 NKS 2
4. 4000000 MTS 1
5. 2000000 YSN 1
No, after the score reset. I was credit feeding in maniac mode with the p2 side, but no reset.Dave_K. wrote:How did you verify you board does not have the reset bug (I guess done before the score reset happened)?
I don't know. Yesterday I had to enable freeplay again, but today not.LUNardei wrote:Dead battery?
Thanks Dennis! Sounds like you discovered a new score reset bug (freeplay + Maniac + credit feed + power down in the middle somewhere while game is in play). Now we have to try and duplicate it. Any other details about that last game you were playing are crucial...like what level were you at? Were you playing P1 or P2?
Since you re-enabled freeplay the other day and didn't need to do that today means there is no problem with your battery. I tried removing the battery for an entire day on mine to reset the scores without any luck.
The method to confirm if you have the "game reset bug" is using P2 with Ultra mode, not Maniac mode. So there is a good possibility your board was not fixed. I wouldn't re-enable the Ultra mode yet until we confirm you can save scores to the "all time" tables.
And yes the "all time" tables I was refering to are not the "Today's high scores" but the ones that should be saving your score across powerdowns. You have to beat the default scores to get onto them (unknown if there are any other bugs/requirements for just Original/Maniac modes). I don't think anyone on the shmups site here has a mushi board without Ultra enabled! Lucky you.

Do you remember which default shot type you were using? Also do you think you powered down at a point where you had a high score (high enough to go onto one of the all time tables before the reset)? To be more specific, when you powered down did you just recently die, and feed a new credit, and then say screw it and power down?Dennis wrote:I was playing on the P1 side, I can't remember which stage.
But I still can't save my scores in the all time table(I've beaten the default scores)
If the scores are saved to the incorrect table doesn't that indicate a non fixed PCB ?Dennis wrote:I just enabled ultra mode again. Now my maniac highscores are saved to the ultra tableIt even saves them after powerdown. It doesn't really matter because all old scores are gone. But i'll try to disable ultra mode again, so we know how.

indeed. i don't think that's the issue here, it's more to figure out how the heck he reset scores in the first placertw wrote:If the scores are saved to the incorrect table doesn't that indicate a non fixed PCB ?Dennis wrote:I just enabled ultra mode again. just as a side note, after my board was sent into cave for the update ultra was still enabled but all the score tables were reset. this is great cause oxtsu and i have been scoring on the tables and actually seeing them in all time and not just todays rank.
not that it's really worth sending a board into cave so you can reset the high score tables, but hey, getting the "fix" effectively made it more fun to play the board. otherwise im sure i'd never get to see my name on the highscores due to the insane japanese scores.

method 1) Using a board you already own, find someone in Japan who will handle it. They need to contact Cave to arrange payment and get details, then send your board to them. They will deal with individuals, but they won't ship it outside of Japan.
method 2) Buy the board from a PCB shop in Japan (or HK if they have the connect and are willing) and have them handle it.

Thanks for getting back to me, Oxtsu. I already own the PCB, so wouldn't want to buy another, but I don't know of anyone in Japan to handle it. Figures, don't it?oxtsu wrote:method 1) Using a board you already own, find someone in Japan who will handle it. too right, i always take a photo of my new HS anyways so i can update the scoring thread..Geezer wrote:Don't AMI/Cave charge something like $200 for servicing PCBs?
I could live with writing down scores for $200!
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
I agree is not necessary to fix it...but in my case, that's different.
An other problem on Mushi first print.I lost the Blue on the RGB signal after 1 month i get the PCB and few weeks ago,the PCB die(black screen,no led on the board light on) and back to life recently with the colour problem unfortunately

I saw on yahoo last year a Mushi with the 2p doesn't work but you certainly right,it's just problem happen to any Cave.I bought it from a shop who take it on(at?) starpine.TWE wrote:Sorry to hear that Koma (hope you can get it fixed), but I don't think it's any specific problem with the Mushi PCB. It could probably happen to any Cave PCB if the particular circuit dies. I've never heard of this happening elsewhere on an SH3 board.
Where did you buy your PCB?
Koma, this is a long shot but please have a look at the S2 DIL switches.
All of the S2 switches should be in the ON position. I was messing around
with these and at one point I lost the blue component.
If they all seem to be in the ON position, please use a small pointed
object and slide them back and forth just to make sure.
The S2 DIL switch is marked S2 and is close to the white connector.
Which again is close to the battery.

I don't know if that help but when i turn on the game,i have just one led light on,this is the one near to the SH3 component,"the D6 Led"
The others near the jamma port don't light.
