How do I make the Raiden Fighters, and Viper Phase 1 play...
on MAME?
And Raiden DX, Soukyugurentai, and Batsugun for that matter.
I've downloaded the roms multiple times, and every time I try to play them on MAME, they have bizzare graphics and that makes them unplayable. Are there any updates for MAME? I'm using MAME32, and I seen the topic on here of the other guy getting one of the Raiden Fighters to work on MAME32, but he wasn't having the same problem as I.
Should I stop trying to use MAME, and get another emulator, or what? Please help me, I love Raiden, and would very much like to try the Fighters series, and Viper Phase, and I would also like to try before I buy Batsugun and Souky.
Thank you in advance.

Make sure you know the version number of MAME that you are using--that is more important than if it is MAME or MAME32, etc. The current version is 0.111 .
You may want to check if there is a newer version of the build you are using or try one of the following:
Official MAME
MAME32
MAMEplus (down as I'm writing this, but it may be available again later)
Seibu SPI video decryption was added around version 0.95 . This affects the Raiden Fighters series and Viper Phase 1.
Raiden DX and Raiden II have ROM-banking issues that have not been worked out as far as I know.
Soukyugurentai should be playable around version 0.100 . As it runs on the ST-V hardware, you may need a 2.4 GHz processor or better to run it at an acceptable speed.
Batsugun's video emulation is imperfect, but shouldn't have changed in quite a while. Stage 1 glitches an extra graphical layer, but stages 2 and 3 should be mostly okay?

i have played RFJet on MAMEPlus v. 0.98 and so far, so good... yeah, it stil has some issues (sound samples n stuff like that)... but, you can still enjoy your gaming sesion on the emu (but, nothin compared as if you had the arcade machine).
havent tried the roms on v. 0.111 .... but, if they work on 0.98, they MIGHT (its not sure they would) work on the latest version of the emu.

My bad.
I've downloaded mame0111s.zip at the official MAME site. I unzipped the download and now I don't know where to place the update to make my MAME recognize it.
Do I unzip the zip file that comes in the download and put that file into the rom directories? Or do I put the file elsewhere.
I'm sorry if that isn't more understandable.

you can always download the MAME32 Plus version, install it (unzip it), place the rom you wanna play in the ROM folder, and fire up the emu... then, if the emu doesnt make the usual audit that it does the very 1st time the emu runs, then, you can go to the menu, and in the first menu option (File), locate the Audit games option, which will then scan for roms placed in the roms folder... if everythin goes ok (you have the correct romset and all that sh!t), then, its just a matter of doubleclickin the name of the game you wanna play (in the available list that you see in the menu GUI), and follow further instructions....
as easy as that (even tho, it took quite awhile to write this whole thing).
PS: de nada.

whit this kinda answers, is when ppl doesnt feel like replyin to this silly posts... dude, you should be greatful that we took the time to reply to your dumb (REALLY) question.... since, all it takes its to read the unfamous README.TXT file to know how to run the emu... and the update thing.............. oh gosh, a 5 year old kid knows how to do it (or qhat to do).I already know how to play roms, what I need to know is how to update my version .90-whatever up to version .111.

I had done the same thing the last few times i updated as well, but this previous time (w/111) i was lazy and regretted it later.Bloodreign wrote:When I updated MAME recently, all I had to do with RF1, RF2, and Viper Phase 1 was move the .ini files over to the newer MAME, and managed to skip the whole countdown session.

Don't get MAME from the official site. That's the barebones version. Go here:Milkgoat wrote:My bad.

Put the rom in the "roms" directory, run MAME, select the game from the list, and play.

You think I didn't look for the readme? It wasn't there. If it was, I wouldn't have wasted other peoples time. now, for real, you know i was right when i asked you to read the README file... since, well, if the info its not there, its a matter of common sense man!... you dont need a degree in informatic or somethin to get the MAME32 Plus emu runnin ... if you dont know how to use it, the usual trial and error method works wonders there... but, oh well................
i think im done here.

no problem. its always good to ask when you dont understand somethin... just try not to be rude wth the ones who are tryin to help you .Milkgoat wrote:I didn't know about the language thing. My bad.
Also, I said earlier that I'm not to smart in this stuff, so I came here to ask. But it doesn't matter anymore. I got the thing working. That's all that matters to me. Sorry if I sounded like an ass earlier.
