Ed Oscuro, B York, and CIT, you shumpers are totally missing the point about Acidglow on Youtube. if the guy has any talent or skill, it is certainly not playing videogames.

^Walter Day eh.
The guys at Twin Galaxies are friendly enough and helpful (I find), but of course there is that issue of their Hi-Scores being described as 'World Records', while conveniently forgetting about the Japanese Arcadia WRs  . I dropped a link to Gemant's Arcadia WR list on a thread at Twin Galaxies a while ago, just to give them a wake-up call.
Not sure if anyone noticed it though...

Chill out guys, those videos are gameplay demonstrations to show people who've never seen a Strikers what the games are like, not superplays.
^If that is the case, then its fine.

On the other hand, Mills is of the mind that; "If you haven't got anything REAL GOOD to show on Youtube, then don't show it until you're ready."

I'd love it if some Japanese master player came in here and started dogging on all our weak scores. Actually, I remember some time ago this forum was mentioned on a Japanese board and some of the comments about our scores were along the lines of "is there something wrong with them? maybe they're retarded."
Well I guess you're right that we generally suck compared to the top Japanese Masters, but Mills has come fairly close to their scores on certain titles & of course equalled their multi-looping Counter Stops on some of the older games.
He's still flying blind on Strikers 1945, as he hasn't witnessed a 2.4mil ALL and the Japanese methods therein.

Yeah, maybe I'm crossing a line because Walter is obviously a nice guy. The problem many old school gamers have is that the lack of controls on equipment means that people aren't using the same equipment. Take a guy who had a track and field record which he was able to easily beat using a keyboard (much easier controller) - last I heard, this was not corrected for.

I don't expect anybody to like the fact that real world records are being ignored, but Twin Galaxies is nothing if they don't stick to their own methods of validating scores. Unless they hook up with overseas groups, they have no way of determining whether other scores are legit.

Anyways, for Mills: just remember that there are dozens (or maybe even hundreds) of videos on Youtube about people sitting on top of their cars while they roll down the street.

Oh man, acidglow had things going for him until he confronted Mr. Midboss.

But yeah making fun of novice players pisses me off sometimes, that depends on how extreme it is.

That's why I kinda strayed off from the fighting game scene and converted to shmupism (oh shit lol I made it sound religious...). On YouTube and some fighting game boards I run into too many of those intolerant fucks that get mad over unfinished combos, an incorrect statement about the gameplay system, or whenver the name "DAIGO" leaks into a discussion, it downspirals to a riot.

Well you can show what you wish on youtube. I personaly don't care for unspectacular vids. Really that video was like watching grandma pace around the backyard. I simply didn't see anything noteworthy in it. :)

Not to jump on someone who obviously hasn't put time into these games, but I think people are just a little too free with the video uploading.

Mars Matrix video!
Uhhm.. I'm not really fellin' this game.. it's ok... X_X
Wow, thanks for uploading then.

QFT...some "hardcore" shmuppers can sometimes give novices a hard time, but that's nothing compared to the hardcore fighting game bunch, at least in my experience.

I like to use this vid as a prime example of what a disgrace to decent shmuppers everywhere looks like.

WTF, he doesn't know how to weave or slow dodge or anything.

And that pattern simulator's supposed to run at a faster rate IIRC. Could just be bad memory on my part though.

Hmm I gotta check that out. That'll clean the cobwebs out of my brain for danmaku and old school shmups on high loops.

I approve of all derailments of this vile topic that have occurred, and also approve of future derailments.

You think you're the shit for pissing on some newbie?

Youtube is a public service, and anyone can upload just about anything they wish. If you don't like a video that's put there, that's just too bad.

If the guy had made any statements about his skill being exceptional, that'd be a different story... but as it stands, he's just uploading videos of the games because he feels like it. So I really can't respect any of you who think less of him just because he can't play a god-dammned video game as well as you can.

Let the scrub have his fun. To me, it just looks like he wants to show off the gameplay really, but on the other hand if you're showing a vid of your crappy skills you also let yourself open to some criticism of it. My 2 cents.
