AcidGlow rubbish videogame replay on youtube.

Post by Mills »

:o There is a shumper named Acidglow on Youtube displaying absolutely rubbish video replays of Strikers1945, Strikers1945 2, Strikers 1999, Strikers1945 Plus, and 19XX with 5 star ratings. the guy cant even clear stage 1 of ST1945 with 5 lives. Us psyiko fans need to show this chump what time it is. I mean seriously shumpers, how can this guy get 3-5 star ratings for playing rubbish on a shump game?

Only difference between me and Astroboy is that I can't be bothered to up my replays to Youtube. Plus, I like to watch these not-so-superplays now and again to remind me that I'm maybe not the absolute worst shmupper around.

uggggg. He plays so loosely in such a stiff mannner. It's not twitchy enough. He tries to avoid enemies but that makes it worse becasue they just end up shooting more shots and staying onscreen. And the idiot that has never heard of this series worries me even more. Somebody with a membership tell him he sucks and should be ashamed.

Some guy had the nerve to rate one of my Mars Matrix videos 4/5. Needless to say I was pretty upset.

Also, my Giga Wing 2 got a rating of 1/5. Yes. Not the most exciting game in the world and youtube mangled the quality, but still.

1/5.

Wow, I'm a pretty awful shmuper relatively speaking, and even I made it to chapter 2 or 3 on default stock one credit my first run through of Strikers 1945 1 & 2.

Well the vids on youtube are not rated on how skilled the players are but on how enjoyable it is to watch the vid. I too think they are overrated but I have absolutely no problem watching bad players play, in that way I can better compare with me. And btw you think this player is this bad? I was better than that after about 2 hours of playing and that's a lot time to invest. before I just screwed up like him...

oh the horror

*five stars*

Incidentally, I got 172,100 on 1-2 in my first play on Strikers 1945. Used the Shinden because I was laughing at the useless crew complement statistic (it looks like a seven but it's supposed to be a 1, apparently). Didn't use any bombs, power shot, or the loop, though.

Current highscore: BF-109 1-3 239,800

So yeah, the guy sucks, but he's just demonstrating the game.

I think you guys should leave him alone. I personally like being able to see non-superplay gameplay videos, since they tend to look closer to how I would actually play the game (though I think I'm a bit better than this guy).

Time to get The Old Millser on Youtube.

I guess we'll record a 2-ALL Mills Strikers 1945 run at the forthcoming London Meet in Feb. Then we can see about sticking it on Youtube. It'll make me laugh if he gets less stars than Acidglow  .

Edit: Oh and by the way, Congrats at getting back to Stage 56 on Fire Shark the other night Mills!

Chill out guys, those videos are gameplay demonstrations to show people who've never seen a Strikers what the games are like, not superplays.

Agreed. Making fun of him because he isn't skilled is pretty lame, it's not like he claims to be the best player in the land.

I'd love it if some Japanese master player came in here and started dogging on all our weak scores. Actually, I remember some time ago this forum was mentioned on a Japanese board and some of the comments about our scores were along the lines of "is there something wrong with them? maybe they're retarded."

That's pretty funny, got a link? I wonder why they didn't simply post their scores here...

Some combination of registration issues and apathy, and maybe a language barrier here and there.

Please don't hound this guy. If you do, I'll 0-star your video!

Anyway, looking forward to seeing this superplay. The game is a fun watch, especially with the sound turned down.

tl;dr: DRAMA. lol.

I agree it's pretty lame to make fun of less-skilled players, but when they claim world records that's a different story :P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBdF7D46IJE
Are people actually claiming twingalaxies records as world records?
I checked some of their shmup-scores, and they're waaay behind scores on this forum. :?

Even I can beat some of the TG scores. Even some of the "top scores" in MAME are well within the reach of a competent, or even incompetent, player (for a laugh, check out the history file for Land Sea Air Squad, then play the game)

Mmmmh. I don´t see him making any glaring mistakes. Sure he´s no top player, but really. It doesn´t have the "so bad it´s funny" quality I expected.

Anyone remembering this one from the Futari thread?

It´s a bit discomforting to know that japanese players aren´t so much like "Oh, you westeners play shmups too? How nice!".

I haven't seen those videos yet, but dying on the first stage? I'm a bad player, but even I don't die on the first stage unless it's on purpose (to manage rank or something like that)

Also, that last post's pic, damn that's alot of bullets.

I gave this a spin on FBA-XXX for the first time and only managed 1-2 with 160,000 or so. *hangs head in shame*
In my (shaky) defense, I am much more at home with more/slower bullets, a la Cave, than the more fast-paced Psikyo style.
