X-Multiply ports...
Hi, folks. I was just wondering if there are any differences between the two versions of this particular Arcade Gears pack? Mine's the PSOne version, but I've noticed the prices and perceived rarity of each of them tend to fluctuate quite a bit, with the Saturn version currently being both harder to find and more expensive. Does this version have anything in the way of extra content? I'm assuming they're identical, but it's nice to be sure - I'm probably enough of a sucker that I'd buy it if there was so much as an additional artwork gallery.
Cheers!

I think you have mixed up. I got my PS1 copy for a cool $45. Whereas I see the SS version run upwards of $100 and more.Ceph wrote:They are identical. Case and point: eBay
PlayStation
Saturn

Actually, I think its the other way around. I saw the Saturn-port very rarely and if I did, it was around 80$. The PSX-port has been a few times on ebay in the same time for circa 40-50$ though.Ceph wrote:All fluctuation aside, the PS1 port is harder to find than the Saturn port, and (generally) more expensive. Unfortunately, I'm only looking for a saturn-version >_>

That's weird, 'cause when I was looking for a copy about a year ago Saturn X-Multiplys were all over the place and PSX copies where nowhere to be seen.
That ONE recent ebay auction for $46 isn't typical.
Considering that you can still play PS1 games on modern Playstation consoles and that more people own Playstations than Saturns nowadays, I expect the price of the PS1 version to go up and the Saturn's to go down in the future.

Personally, I didn't want any of the Playstation Arcade Gears games, because Gun Frontier was only released on Saturn, and I wanted a complete Set of the series.
Kinda silly, I know, but that might actually be the reason the Saturn AGs are more expensive, as Pulirula and 3 Wonders command more on Saturn as well.

In my experience, there are typically more copies of the Saturn port on eBay, but the PS1 tends to be less expensive-- especially for a sealed copy.
Personally, I prefer the PS1 version. I may be entirely mistaken, but iirc the Saturn version of Image Fight had a slightly awkward button layout and I was unable to change it. I believe the PS1 version allowed me to map the buttons as desired.

Ok this is like weird, the PS version seem alot rarer then the Saturn version, yet they seem to be kinda in the same price range.professor ganson wrote:In my experience, there are typically more copies of the Saturn port on eBay, but the PS1 tends to be less expensive-- especially for a sealed copy.

There are hardly any Playstation Arcade Gears games on Yahoo JP either; however, there are 2 copies of X-Multiply, one for Saturn and one for PS1. And the price is nearly identical. I have a feeling the ebay prices for Saturn copies are a bit on the high side

The SS version is probably more expensive in the US due to the popular misconception of SS versions being better (with the sole exception of Konami's shooters, where the PS versions are a lot less commonly found).
Well, the PS port of Pulirula also has missing frames compared to the nearly perfect SS port (both 3 Wonders ports are mediocre though). It's interesting to note that even among these games, the PS versions are much harder to find on Ebay.CIT wrote: Kinda silly, I know, but that might actually be the reason the Saturn AGs are more expensive, as Pulirula and 3 Wonders command more on Saturn as well.

Is there some website that lists printruns of videogames? That would be so helpful. I'll ask about it in the OT section.Ganelon wrote:The SS version is probably more expensive in the US due to the popular misconception of SS versions being better (with the sole exception of Konami's shooters, where the PS versions are a lot less commonly found).

You can buy both for the cost of the PCB.
