Looks like they played a good amount of Gradius V and R-Type; those bio levels really remind me of those. I am really looking forward to that rotating level. I also like the new bullets. Good that they finally got rid of the weird perspective of the first title. Nanostray was always a love/hate relationsship to me, though I think the "valor" type of scoring was interesting (but worked better in Iridion 2).
Now exuse me, I´ll continue lifting rocks with my right thumb so I can finally play shmups on my DS Lite d-pad properly

THE BULLETS ARE NOW DIAMONDS!
I think we´ll have to wait a bit longer, since it says "Q2 2007". I also have the impression that they will do some more detail on the stages, because while they are looking good, they lack the refinement of Nanostray yet. Both Iridion 2 and Nanostray we´re absolute show-offs on their respective systems.Kaspal wrote: DEFINITIVELY gettin this one next month...

I have to agree, the screenshots looked promising but this trailer is really nice stuff. It's probably just my excitement but it looks to me like a tiny (but qualitywise pretty impressive) renaissance of arcade style shooters in the west right now. First Geometry Wars, then Minter's new project and now a true shmup from the homeland of Turrican. Nice one, keep em coming

true... 1st time i saw the video, i read 02 2007, but now, i watched it again, and yes, its scheduled for Q2 ... well, i'll have some DC love in the mean time, so no worries.FrederikJurk wrote:I think we´ll have to wait a bit longer, since it says "Q2 2007". now... about the DPad of the NDS-L being hard... dont know bout you, but for me, its REALLY SOFT!... its like a dream come true for me... or, were you refering to workout your thumb, so that you could play this game to death when it comes out?.
Mmmh. Mine is soft too, but I need a lot of force to make it recognize my button presses, and pushing diagonals is a pain. When I play Nanostray I am trying to not use diagonal movement at all. No big deal in other games like Mariokart, but totally uncomfortable for shmups.Kaspal wrote: now... about the DPad of the NDS-L being hard... dont know bout you, but for me, its REALLY SOFT!... its like a dream come true for me... or, were you refering to workout your thumb, so that you could play this game to death when it comes out?.

It has good graphics and an excellent soundtrack, but a very punishing score system and stupid touch-screen weapon changing. And most of the time, half of the weapons are useless. But somehow I am a sucker for portable shmups, since I love slacking on my couch with a handheld.Lawfer wrote:Is the first Nanostray worth getting?
So, NS2 seem to be a Nanostray without all those annoying flaws (instant death, proper perspective, no touchscreen, no useless extra weapons, and options). Nanostray and Iridion 2 had a lot of potential but also major flaws which kept them for becoming instant classics.

Oh so you have to touch the screen and all? Nooooooooooooo! Is there any story in this game?FrederikJurk wrote:It has good graphics and an excellent soundtrack, but a very punishing score system and stupid touch-screen weapon changing. And also any news on Xyanide Advance?
as far as i remember, theres no real story on the game... maybe in the manual says something, but i dont remember (i just used to get the game out from the case and off to play)... i remember, when playin the arcade section, there were no story at all...Lawfer wrote:Oh so you have to touch the screen and all? about the other one... no idea, when it comes out, if its any good, im a taker.
I have been perpetually putting off Nanostray and the Iridion games, but after watching that video, I am officially wading into the series. Best looking Euro shmup I have ever seen. The horizontal stages have a nice Pulstar vibe to them. And love that the vertical stages have the proper Layer Section perspective. Captain Cab and Socky approve.

I feel the same way. The Iridion games also felt really... hollow to me for some reason so i'm kind of iffy about checking this out. Euro shmups never feel as cool to me, it's like they lack a certain energy. Maybe it was the shitty artwork or repeating backgroundsUnscathedFlyingObject wrote:I wish they'd just keep it to one perspective (preferably horizontal.) Mixed perspective shmups always give me the feeling I'm getting half of two different games.

The first game was pretty cool though but played like hell. I suppose maybe i'll find a way to check the Nanostray's out before i buy...
Godzilla was an inside job
This game looks great. Looks like they tried to go with the whole Border Down thing. But yeah, I have the first one. But from some reason when when I play ti and then I turn it off, all my data get erased. I donno why it happens, just one day when I decided to play it all my data was gone. :sign: but anyway... can't wait for this one.
thats weird... i usually play the game, go to the main menu and then turn off the console, and every time i come back to paly, my scores and all are there... so, try it that way... but, still weird, since, thats not volatile memory, so your saves shouldnt get erased! (actually, im still wondering if theres a way to reset the challenges... the scores its possible, i think, but the challenges, are not...)Stadic wrote:This game looks great.
