Stupid Batsugun Question

Post by JoshF »

Is the "gun" pronounced in English like the weapon or in Japanese like "goon"?

Considering that their is a real word "batsugun" meaning "outstanding" or something, I'd say it's the latter. But I'll let the experts reply...

That's called a schwa, and no it's not pronounced with that (standard Japanese doesn't have a schwa vowel).

As for the poster's original question, it's pronounced "goon".

The only shooting game I think of which has some weird pronunciation is Dangun Feveron. Dangun is half-ateji (if there is such thing) as the second character means gun, and romanized as so, but the Japanese pronunciation is "gan".
